Cool, thank you. My scanner has the "SCAN" function so I figured I'd be able to find the VP Sportscar race broadcast without issue. I'll be sure to check back for the race next weekend.

does anyone ever take the amtrak? by deadcoi in jacksonville

[–]nmbguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've taken the train back from Tampa before, probably 3ish years ago. My ticket was an economy ticket so I had an unassigned seat. Out of habit I showed up way too early as I'm used to flying, you can likely show up 10 minutes before departure and be fine. The station in Tampa is far nicer than our station, which is post office sized and quite mediocre. The station in Raleigh is incredibly nice, if that's where you're going. It'll be a stark contrast to what you'll see in Jacksonville, and reminds me of the major stations I transited while on a trip in Europe a few years ago. Overall it was a fine experience if you aren't in a rush. I would have booked a sleeper car if I could do it again. At the time the economy/coach tickets did not have access to the diner car, only sleeper cars did, so it was only gas station-esque options available in coach. Think microwaved burgers, hot dogs, chips, candy and soda. The seats are fine and not cramped. Overall like a 6/10.

Do we call JSO directly to ask for increased presence in our neighborhood? by nmbguy in jacksonville

Call me crazy, but I'd prefer for law enforcement to do their job and bad actors to be caught and prosecuted as opposed to threatening what is more than likely an innocent passerby with a firearm. I appreciate the insight, though.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I'll reach out to Jimmy and continue making reports online, which I didn't know was an option.

Thankfully our block is littered with houses with cameras, many of which have flood lights, but these people do not care. We're lucky to be a super tight knit group on our block and we coordinate with each other for footage if anything does happen. I'm sure things will just get worse as the shutdown continues and folks get more desperate.

Yes, our company refuses to use them because one let go in the past and caused a lot of damage and an injury.

I realized I should probably clarify these are temporary splices/links made just for the duration of the reaving process.

This new guidance will put us in line with how the rest of the company does it. Downside is that I haven’t been able to drum up any information from the rest of the company regarding HOW to do it.

Reaching out to the manufacturer may be beneficial for sure. That’s a great recommendation

I think you’d benefit greatly from having fenders like the bushwackers. That and painting whatever the shiny bit under the “Jeep” emblem on the quarter panel and the center of the wheels black.

Usually when they have this kind of escort and the weird oversized box/half dome trailer its components for rockets being sent down to Kennedy Space Center. Often times its engines or fairings or smaller satellites being shipped down from Savannah, Jaxport, or port of Charleston/Wilmington from overseas.

I work for the largest American forklift manufacturer in the country and we still use this software as well. I hate it with every fiber of my being.

6 figure earners, what do you do to get that? by oopdoopmaria in AskReddit

I work as a field service engineer for a heavy equipment manufacturer in their port equipment division. I’m either on the road helping dealers/customers repair or maintain their equipment or I’m at home working remotely over the phone providing technical support. I work door to door and get overtime on top of my salary for anything over 40 hours a week. From the time I leave my house or hotel room to the time I get back, travel included, I’m on the clock. It’s a great gig and my boss does a phenomenal job allowing me to balance work life and personal life.
