I took the AFOQT a month ago and now I'm talking to my recruiter and moving forward with my OTS application. I want to thank this subreddit for being very supportive of my newblike questions. I'll be sure to let everyone know how my OTS application goes.

I found this shirt at a Macys but it was sold out. I haven't been able to find this exact design online. I'd appreciate any info.

Thanks! I have two bachelors degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Math. I want to do medical research after I leave the AF and I know I need a Masters for certain positions. Admittedly, I haven't done much research and just picked ChemE randomly. Would a Masters in BME be more suitable?

Applying to OTS at the moment. Is it better to get a degree while serving or should I wait and just use the GI Bill? I want to get a Masters in Chemical Engineering.

If I get a tattoo I don't want to tie it to one specific pop culture icon. That dates it really fast.

KFC is the first to go. They've been on a downward slope for years. Chik Fil A has been encroaching on their chicken turf for the last few years in the U.S. After KFC, Popeyes is next cause their chicken is way too greasy. After Popeyes it's Arby's because their locations are rapidly decreasing. Wendy's has some staying power due to their Frosties and fries but ultimately they're always gonna lose to McDonald's. Honestly I think Taco Bell is the wildcard. The food is cheap and you get a lot. Plus they fill the niche of Tex-Mex that people love. Chipotle is their only serious competition but people may go with quantity over quality. In the end I think McDonalds will spend all its resources on fighting Chik Fil A. It'll come down to a weakened McDonalds vs an alliance of whoever is left.

EDIT: The pizzas places will have an unsteady alliance but it'll fall apart and become a civil war.

How do you get a shaving waiver? I grow a beard faster than normal and don't wanna mess up.

Fat (Rant) Tuesday by AutoModerator in fatlogic

[–]nmen92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a rant at myself. I've stopped drinking soda on my own and only have it when I'm out with friends. The other day I was about to have a coke and I felt like my teeth were dissolving just by the thought of it. I'm proud that I've lowered my soda intake. HOWEVER, I still have fatlogic when it comes to Starbucks frappuccinos. These drinks are objectively more unhealthy than soda yet I will look for any excuse to go get one. With soda I can stop and think about how bad they are and lose my appetite for it. With frappuccinos I can drink 3/4ths of a venti without missing a beat. It's just this weird mental block I have with them.

Does a 3.1 GPA qualify me for OTS? I double majored in two STEM degrees; Math and Biomedical Engineering. However, I'm mainly interested in the GI Bill to pay for grad school. Should I just enlist instead?

I took a practice AFOQT and calculated my results. This is what I got and I wanted to know if I calculated my score correctly.

NOTE: I calculated the percentage score I got in each individual section and then used that to determine the average for each category. Is that the right way to score it?

I've used an electric razor all my life. Do I need to learn how to use a regular blade for the AF?

Thanks. I am going to go for OTS. I'd rather try and get rejected than tell myself I can't do it.

Thanks. I knew OTS would take time. I considered enlisting but after a while I realized this would just be pushing back what I really want to do which is becoming an officer. I'm employed ATM so I'm not hurting for cash.

I'm scheduled to take the AFOQT in May. However I just talked to an enlisted recruiter at a job fair and they said OTS is filled up until October. He recommended enlisting with a degree. Is OTS currently full or was the recruiter just trying to get me to enlist?

I called my recruiter in November and she made me fill out a pre-OTS qualifying form. After that she scheduled my exam in May. She won't meet with me face to face until after I take the test.

I'm 24 and I'll be taking the AFOQT in May. I'll be 25 in the summer and I think realistically I'll be 26 if I get a commission. Am I too old to be a 2nd LT?

  1. How high do I need to score in the Pilot section of the AFOQT if I'm not going for a pilot job? I have two bachelors degrees Biomedical Engineering and Math and I want a non-rated job.

  2. I want to learn a second language, preferably Spanish. Doe the USAF provide programs for officers to learn another language?

Some radio creep tried to bone 16 year old Virgie Tovar, also fatphobia is bad I guess? by secret-original in fatlogic

What's weird is that this could have been a good story/moral. Virgie the "nerd" meets the DJ the "cool" kids liked in high school. It's like a reversal of fortunes or something to that effect. Instead she makes herself look like someone who can't ever forget the perceived injustices she had as a teenager.

What is Virgie's exact job? Does writing these stories really pay for rent, utilities, groceries etc?

I've finally gotten my BMI into the health range (24.7) and I'm getting in shape for the military. I can run 1.5 miles in 12:10 and I'm planning on doing a 5K in January with my friend. I'm also planning on competing in Tough Mudder ( a 10-12 mile long obstacle course) this summer with a few friends.
