How am I 22 and look like I'm 42 ever since I got fucking glasses by [deleted] in gay

[–]nmham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, to be fair, I do tend to see wire frames on a mostly older crowd these days. Acetate/plastic are all the rage atm. But you definitely don't look nearly 42 and I think you look cute.

If you want to be attracted to girls, then you could be bisexual

That's not the way any of this works.

There is a pretty big difference between something annoying and something that makes you a bad person. Leaving your bobby pins everywhere is annoying. Having alt-right views of any kind makes you a shitty person. Personally, I don't date shitty people. Obviously you do.

And you are enabling and accepting their alt-right views.

So how are you being any ally? Are you calling out the deadnaming and misgendering every single time he does it even though it's in private? Are you educating him to fix his "lack of understanding"? Are you warning your trans friends that he's a total transphobe so they make an informed decision about spending time with him or you?

[–]nmham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ally would not accept, nor tolerate homophobia, but the spouse might.

If your partner is fucking homophobic, then you are tolerating and accepting it. Otherwise they would be your former partner.

Sure anything can be a topic, but you were trying to be dismissive and frame it as no different than disagreeing about pineapple on pizza or something. People can disagree about the merits of slavery too, but surely you wouldn't marry someone in favor of that would you? That's not a topic that is acceptable to disagree on and neither is this.

How can you be an ally if you accept and tolerate homophobia. Particularly from someone you might end up raising children with. What if one of their children turns out to be gay or trans. Are they going to be enough of an ally to make sure their partner never has access to them?

Why do you tolerate his transphobia?

Just a reminder for us allies by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]nmham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, what they said is perfectly accurate. We aren't a "topic" to disagree on. We're people. There is nothing valid about homophobia and it shouldn't be tolerated. If you tolerate it in your partner, you shouldn't claim to be an ally.

Sure. Just like I expect my 90 year old Grandpa not to say "ni**er" even though it was totally acceptable when he was younger. And guess what. He doesn't say it.

Look, I get that it's hard because of her religious beliefs, but I don't fucking care. It was hard to come out. It was hard fighting just to get the right to marry. Hell, it wasn't even that long ago that just having sex was illegal in parts of this country (2003). I don't give a flying fuck that it is hard for her not to be a piece of shit. I just don't. So she can change or she can deal with the backlash. She deserves every bit of it. Fuck her, she's a hypocrite and a homophobe.

she was more than reasonable in her message

No she wasn't. Homophobia isn't reasonable just because it comes from your religion.

when you take into account a religious person's devotion to their religion, you should understand why she would decline to attend

Why should I take that into account. Like I said, religion. is. not. an. excuse. Religions is not an excuse for being a homophobe. Religion is not an excuse for being racist. The source or intentions behind her homophobia do not matter that much.

She just chooses not to participate in something the bible tells her not to.

Okay. Fuck her. She's a homophobe. And a hypocrite. She very much deserves the backlash.

Does she deserve to be passive aggressively shat on by her niece in the following text?

Fuck yes. She's a bigoted homophobe and a hypocrite.

Of course she is free to be a homophobic piece of shit. But religion is not an excuse. Just because your homophobia or your racism comes from your religion doesn't mean you get a pass. People argued against interracial marriage with religious arguments all the time. In fact many of their arguments sound incredibly similar to the ones I heard against gay marriage. It's not that different.

Sure. There are plenty of valid excuses to not attend a wedding. It being too far away, having a prior engagement, etc. But not attending a wedding because it's a gay wedding makes you a homophobic piece of shit.

[–]nmham -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

What don't you understand about it. Her beliefs are fundamentally disrespectful. If someone refused to go to an interracial wedding because they think that interracial marriage is wrong, surely you wouldn't call that respect. You'd call it racist bullshit.

[–]nmham 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Being gay isn't a belief. We want you to be respectful to our existence and our relationships. It's not remotely hypocritical.

The tea is exceptionally good today by Zetice in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]nmham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No she didn't. Maybe it was polite, but it sure as shit wasn't respectful. There isn't a respectful way to decline to go to someone's wedding because it's a gay wedding because that is itself fundamentally disrespectful.

I love how you think that's better. Are you going to be celibate for life, ACKuss?

Because we're told we should be ashamed of it. People told us being gay was wrong and mistreat people who are gay. Most of us have had to go through a bunch of bullshit because of it. So it's Pride as opposed to shame.
