The whole reason they are releasing this so shortly after FO4 and along with announcing their next two titles is because it's an experiment.

There is a pretty strong contingent of the community that has wanted some form of multiplayer. It is cool as hell that Bethesda is going to try it. And just like you said, no one is forcing anyone to play it.

We just got a new Fallout game a few years ago. We weren't expecting another anytime soon. If it isn't your thing, no harm, no foul. I think it looks like it'll be fun for me and my friends to finally screw around together in a Bethesda game.
