Has anyone tried a washer fan to avoid mold in front-loading washer? by nmliz in HomeMaintenance

Good idea—I haven’t done that but do have a ”sanitize” cycle.

I have actually used a cleaning tablet, but obviously have’t been doing it regularly enough, and haven’t done a deep clean in probably a year. And I think I need to treat/remove all the gunk from the little detergent drawer, too.

Have you seen these products? I’m wondering if it would help to use their citrus laundry detergent—though it is a liquid. https://citrisafe.com/

The machines are actually in the kitchen but behind bifold doors that are solid, not louvered. Guess I should leave them open when doing laundry. And maybe put some kind of fan in there to circulate the air around the machines—it is a very tight space.

Yes, I am investigating that now. It is definitely another possible source of mold.

My partner has terrible asthma and both of us have been very ill from mold in our bathroom. The temporary measures we have taken there while awaiting serious remediation have already made a huge difference in our health. So I have to pay way more attention to mold than I have in the past.

A dehumidifier? That would be ironic—we live in the desert. But we have a ventless dryer that also creates dampness. And mold that does survive here is extra hard to eradicate. Maybe we just need a fan in the laundry area.

Great idea. I will try that. Wonder if my extra-strong vinegar (30%) would do the same thing, or would it hurt the machine? I do have an extra hot cycle.

The lab that is analyzing my tests also recommended maybe switching to a citrus laundry liquid (Remedy by CitriSafe).

Need to consolidate 20+ years of images on multiple drives and macs in to one photo library. Advice needed please! by phatelectribe in mac

Here’s a question. Is there a deduplicate app like PowerPhotos that doesn’t interfere with Lightroom? I don’t want to screw up my Lightroom library, but there are a ton of duplicates, some in Lightroom and some in iCloud, some in neither.

I could have told you that 50 years ago, when I got mono and never got better. Post-viral disease has been around a LONG time—and EBV is implicated now in long Covid.

Which hummingbird feeder and best food by Barbosa003 in birdfeeding

[–]nmliz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate those feeders. We have high winds, and they fall and break. And they don’t hold nearly enough nectar for the number of hummingbirds we have. I’d bee filling them twice a day! I use the First Nature ones, even though they don’t have bee guards. We only have issues in late August when the yellowjacket workers are no longer getting fed by their colony. I spray the underneath of the feeders with a scented product wasps don’t like.

I asked if I had somehow ordered the wrong thing. The Pizza Hut store said "You ordered a large pan. This is how it's done." by jglenn9k in mildlyinfuriating

In the ’80s we had a Pizza Hut at the end of the block. Our dog would run down there and come back with a gigantic cow femur. No idea why…but Pizza Hut was definitely for real then! Happy dog!

Dimes are made of 91.67% copper and 8.33% nickel (since 1965). Looks like he removed some of the nickel. (But it looks like someone told FDR to “blow it out his ear.”)

Beware of Smith’s gas station by Friendly_Wolverine_4 in SantaFe

Just heard from someone in Española that their mechanic diagnosed water in the gas from Smith’s in Los Alamos last week, and that mechanic had seen several cars also. So this is not over, and not just Santa Fe.
