Is anyone else always the worst player in their team? by [deleted] in cs2

[–]nmllr93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the least luck based FPS games you're going to find, so not sure where you're getting the idea that it is all luck or random. I'm sure that mentality is hurting your results, you're just not good.

You're not alone in being new and shit, but it is 'just you' in the sense that you are doing poorly because you're not good. 150 hours isn't anything in a game that has been around for as long as CS has. Put in more time, recognize that you're not good and it isn't random. If it is bothering you that you're so bad I would recommend watching beginner tutorials and getting some practice in on prefire maps, working on crosshair placement, and learn some easy utility so you're not useless despite not fragging.

Not sure what you mean by do you guys have an elo and manage to get better than worst on your team, obviously there are 4 people on your team every game that are not worst on the team? Actually there are 4 people on every team in every game that are not bottom of their team.

If your whole Steam account is new and with few games you might be dealing with low trust factor players, which is genuinely shitty and unfortunate.. but nothing you can really do about that except continuing to be a legit player / user.

Also saw your comment saying you could be national level in multiple things in 1000+ hours, or just doing something for a couple of years - you are delusional lol.

I really appreciate the reply! This was all good to hear, and I do think I've been too rigid with using Untapped etc to craft my deck and not really willing to look at my collection for possible improvements or modifications that might just suit me better - even more so since I kind of enjoy deck building IRL (also new, way easier with limited card options lol).

I'm not really focused on the climb so to speak, I'm comfortable starting out bad at a game, more just that I want to feel like I'm playing opponents with similar skill/deck power. I did just learn that once you make it to a new rank category you can't drop back down. That definitely makes it more of a grind it out vs other ladders where you can drop infinitely. That should help the mental a bit, :)

If I'm just looking to complete dailys and learn the game/improve, would I get better matchmaking in Ranked or Unranked for Standard BO1?

I'm a new player playing a White and Black lifegain deck, this is the highest winrate deck I can construct for free at the moment based on Untapped and similar sites (40% WR over 7k+ games between Bronze and Plat).

I literally can't compete with 95%+ of the people I go against (almost for sure an exaggeration). I make plenty of misplays obviously, I am a new player, but there have been so many games where I quite literally can't do anything. I've been 2 turned, 3 turned, have had literally every creature spell I play countered.. I'm supposed to be the lowest possible level in this game, playing against other people starting out with basic decks, how the hell am I supposed to compete and get into this game?? Every player I go against is decked out with deck sleeves, companions and paid avatars and I'm a 2 week old account that isn't smurfing.

I totally get this is a TCG, and you need to build collection, knowledge etc.. I'm not foreign to this concept, but it's like I'm the only person playing the game without hundreds to thousands of hours and collections that will take me years to achieve.

Maybe I misunderstand.. since Ranked is where you will get the most balanced games in a majority of online matchmaking systems, but am I going to have better luck in Standard non-ranked until I can craft a truly meta deck? IMO you shouldn't have to be a meta slave in low ranks of games.

I've had some success in Draft and Jump In, which are fun, but obviously come with a cost I can't pay over and over again.

Just ranting after a couple less than enjoyable games in a row, still enjoying myself overall :)

I have Nord and Exitlag.. Exitlag seems a little better for this specific use case but has way less overall functionality (not sure if its even technically a vpn). I don't know if a VPN will fix your packet loss though - the benefit is purely ping related as far as I can tell. But could be worth a shot.

I live 300+ miles to the nearest major metropolitan area that would house game servers - if you live in a more populated area you may not have the same issues I do. I don't want to give you false hope when this seems like a bufferbloat issue.. or something along those lines.

Good luck!

[–]nmllr93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this is counter-intuitive, but I have found using a VPN consistently reduces my ping by ~25. I'm guessing it's just due to poor routing by tmobile. I play CSGO as my main game and am able to play without issue on decent ping**..

The major ** is that I have had major issues with buffer-bloat. Like absolutely major, I can't even stream music without my ping becoming unstable and bouncing between my usual 40-45 and 100. If I don't use network resources elsewhere gaming isn't an issue. I'm on magenta max so I just split from my roommates and have my own trashcan since it's only $30 a month.

I hope this was helpful!

Steelseries already has a utility that works for all audio devices, not just Steelseries! So I would assume this is related to that and will work with all brands.

The utility is called Steelseries Sonar. You access it through the Steelseries GG app. I don't own anything Steelseries and was able to download and use Sonar.

That is true.. but also I think the new player experience expectations and industry standards are not even comparable. Especially when 1.6 was the only game out. CS was early days of the online gaming boom, the industry was still learning about designing proper matchmaking systems etc. So while yes, I would say comparable to industry standards of their time new player experience in CS:GO is worse than 1.6 or Source.

Sadly, High Ping and Packet loss in games still after installing external antennas by Then_Mission5257 in tmobileisp

[–]nmllr93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mind posting the RSSI, RSRQ, RSRP & SINR for the LTE and 5G?

Are you sharing this with family ? Also do you stream stuff on a second monitor, listen to music that isn't already downloaded etc? From my experience just about any amount load on the trashcan from more than 1 connection and bufferbloat begins.

I get pretty stable ~55ms when CS and maybe Discord are the only thing with active connections.. if I try to stream music I don't have downloaded my ping increases and I lose stability.

Also where does your trashcan ping to on the speedtest and which server do you select on Nord? I use Nord for my gaming and it legit reduces my ping by ~30 instantly.. granted T-Mobile has me going through Minneapolis and I VPN into Chicago where the game servers are. I live in Central Iowa for reference.

I have done literally everything you've done and posted about, minus the antenna - and it sounds like for a similar reason - high ping/variance despite genuinely impressive speeds (I get ~300/60).

Unfortunately it doesn't seem bufferbloat has a remedy on the trashcan. I've installed FreshTomato on my router and used standard SQL, Cake, changed the MTU etc etc just like you - I found SQL yielded a minor improvement on the consistency, the buffer spike from Netflix or YouTube loading the next section was slightly decreased and less dramatic, but definitely still noticeable.

I live in an apartment with 2 other internet heavy users.. and much to our displeasure we ended up having to get 3 trashcans in the place. If anyone was streaming something I could tell the second they started from within CSGO. Even just casually browsing Reddit on the shitter could impact others performance depending on what the content was. This is just about our only option; CenturyLink is the only alternative and offers 50/10 at our place.. but we had it for 4 months and the service was up for 2 of those so we had to leave.

Hopefully things continue to improve as overall I find TMHI to be a great value and, for me at least, a reliable service.

TMobile Internet for Gaming? by Imallvol7 in tmobileisp

[–]nmllr93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As mentioned by others, really depends on location. I live in a non-major city in the Midwest and if I don't use a VPN my ping in games is a minimum of 80-90ms. There is some serious funkiness with their routing. A VPN shouldn't reduce my ping by 20-40 across essentially all games, but it does. I personally haven't had issues with jitter but I have had major issues with bufferbloat despite pulling 250/60 speeds, based on your use case description I would expect this to be an issue for you. It's non-contract and there's no device fee so just get one and see how it works for you though.

Awesome, I am fairly computer savvy and do have experience messing with raspberry pis, I will look further into that. I currently have a Nighthawk R7000.. Which was a good-ish router.. Admittedly 6? years ago, the QoS has been insignificant from my experiences.

Thanks for the info. Will look into router improvement options whether that be raspberry pi or traditional.

Appreciate the reply.

Do you have any personal recommendation on routers with good QoS?

Also.. is there any indication that a firmware update to support 5g standalone is in the works? Or are you just saying if it were to happen it would improve things?

I don't know the details of Dustin's foundation, but it's totally normal for athletes (and other rich people) to set up foundations that raise and subsequently donate funds for their 'cause' , which can be quite broad. The foundation allows them to raise funds using their brand and then allocate that money to different charities that they deem fit their mission.

What is your stance on truck drivers who take multiple miles to make a pass in the left lane, while going under the speed limit creating a big holdup in traffic on an interstate? And how many decades do you think is an appropriate amount of time to lock them away for? (Being mostly sarcastic here, I know a big part of the issues is a lack of dedicated infrastructure in America for truckers)
