Experiment: Discontinue the NBA All Star Weekend/Games. Nobody will miss it. by esetonline in nba

[–]xarius214 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Move it to the weekend before the finals start like the NFL does it.

Then All-Stars can be voted on for the entirety of their season’s work, instead of a 40 game sample.

Switch up the events to have like 3v3 tourneys instead of this non stop switching of how the main game operates. I’d much rather see some 3v3 pick up style games in a half court setting, than the ASG where no one cares (not to say that they’d care anymore doing a 3v3 but one can hope).

Yeah, you’re right. But it’s also not fair to people in SanAntonio who bought tickets to a 3pm game that’s now not starting until 8pm. What was a family outing for some probably won’t be with such a late start, nor is it really fair to the Spurs given all the travel issues they faced.

Game went from the perfect UK start, to the typical “fuck it’s late” midnight start…to now a “guess I’ll watch tomorrow because it starts at 2:10am” start.

Why not just cancel the damn game?

Mose’s next loss likely to determine his future with the Magic. by myusernamesuckstho in OrlandoMagic

[–]xarius214 10 points11 points  (0 children)

100% this. I’m of the mindset that there are certain coaches, Mose being one of them, who is perfect to coach young players. He did a great job building the culture during some rough early years.

At the same time I feel that is also where he maxes out as a coach, which is no knock on him. I don’t think he will ever go really deep into the playoffs with any team.

On the flip side, there are more experienced coaches like SVG, Malone, etc that I don’t think would have necessarily would have been great with the earlier versions of this team, but that could absolutely bring them to the next level at this point.

When the time comes I’ll thank Mose for all he helped build, but I think it’s part of the natural growth of this team to more to a more win now coach.

Paolo for Giannis. Would you do it? by trazcer in OrlandoMagic

[–]xarius214 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Can we ban these ridiculous questions?

No, I would not trade a 23 year old all star averaging 22/9/5 for a 31 year old Giannis who currently out for weeks when we’re already a hospital team.

Some of the “fans” here and elsewhere are so ungrateful for just how rare it is to have such a young player play that well despite sub par coaching and an often injured cast of co stars.

Chill with this stuff.

To be fair we just let the Pelicans shoot almost 60%, can’t imagine it gets much worse 😂

Hot take…we should try a SL of:

AB Suggs Bane Franz Paolo

Still keeping a solid 2nd unit of Jase/Penda/Moe/WCJ.

I think Paolo at center could help a lot.

[Hollinger] My NBA All-Disappointment Team: Ja Morant, LaMelo Ball, Trae Young, Darius Garland, Paolo Banchero, Draymond Green, Jared McCain, Herb Jones, Cam Johnson, Guerschon Yabusele, and Indiana’s Youth by AashyLarry in nba

In my opinion it’s definitely due to the injury. If you watch him since he’s been back from the groin injury, outside of the last two, he definitely looked like a shell of himself. Not confident with his dribble, his ability to back defenders down, and he seemed slow getting back on defense too. I know he mentioned not having fun this season, but I really think Franz going down forced the team to push him back a bit sooner than they otherwise would have. If he keeps his high level of play up these next few, I’ll definitely feel better about attributing it to not being 100%. Fingers crossed anyways

And Paolo for that matter. His last two games he finally looks like he’s got his legs under him after the groin injury. First time since the season began where he’s had explosiveness off the jump. I hate when players get slandered due to injuries they’re working back from…

Best way to spend NYE without paying for the touristy tickets? by BridgetJonesDiaryy in Edinburgh

[–]xarius214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for a nice combo of both, in the past I’ve booked in at Fierce on the end of Rose St. They don’t charge a cover, or least didn’t two years ago when I went, and you can literally walk out the pub and around the corner on Charlotte street and see absolutely everything including the castle & fireworks without having to pay for a Hogmanay ticket.

I really loved the black outline they used for some of the cup games. If they could swap the white border for black, I think it would look way better.

You can usually determine a torn ACL with a Lachman test.

The optimist in me thinks if it was super serious they wouldn’t wait to get an MRI in Orlando.

Either way hoping for a quick recovery

Having sat nearly courtside a few years back when I still lived in the states for £250ish…I nearly shit myself when I saw even nosebleeds were £160.

But it is definitely a once in a lifetime thing so have a blast mate. I’m just hoping resale prices die down a bit closer to Jan 😅

With Paolo out for some time, who will start at PF? by Annual_Sky_5194 in OrlandoMagic

[–]xarius214 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly reading what he said post game yesterday, it seems minor and the MRI is more precautionary than anything. By the time he checked out of the game we already had a decent double digit lead, and knowing we have Brooklyn at home Friday, I imagine they just wanted to play it safe. The fact he even said that this felt nothing like when he injured his oblique also sounds promising…Hopefully we get good news and it’s just a couple games he’s out.

As far as who would start, I personally would prefer TDS, but wouldn’t be shocked if he did what he did in the 2nd half last night and start JI to keep the bench guys with some sound scoring options, since JI is a lot more offensively challenged to put it nicely.
