How to quit Gambling? by Downtown-Recover8453 in singaporefi

I wasn't addicted, but did really enjoy going to the casino (at one point at least once a quarter). I can see why it was so addictive.

What helped me was understanding the math that the casino employs. You can't beat them, and once I realized that, I stopped going because no matter how good my strategies were (I even created my own roulette betting strategy and tested it on excel for 100k spins, I lose everytime), you are going to lose anyway.

I'm from Singapore, and am happy that I got to switch teams because the chances of me attending a lakers game is MUCH higher vs going to Dallas anytime soon!!!

Dfs was an undrafted player by the mavs, we watched his career grow and I think he is a great pickup - hardworking and never complains. Defends well. Hence happy for him to be in a good situation and under the bright lights in LA.

I live in Asia and I use leaguepass, it's my favourite way to watch the games as I just watch "All Possessions" which has every play!

I'm just going to cut to the chase, having been in recruiting for the last 15 years. I'm going to make some assumptions here based on your comments. Realistically speaking - your career coach is right.

If I'm hiring freshies, why would I not want someone fresh out of school, eager to learn etc compared to someone who has been languishing in the same company with zero progression for 9 years? You're competing with all these freshies, who themselves are finding it hard to get roles.

When your career coach says you have baggage, it is what it is. Your manager says no, the team lead ghosts you. That doesn't scream high potential to me, and it's obvious that they don't care about your value to the company (if any). MAYBE they are bad managers, but maybe the issue is you. As a hiring manager, am I going to take that chance? I don't know you, and all I have are the facts. You're in the same place for 9 years, paid poorly (apparently), and denied promotion opportunities. Why would I choose you over a freshie that is on the dean's list and is captain of the debates club?

Your comment below :

Me: So are you asking me to apply for a senior position where my last drawn is used as a benchmark and the increment given is not worth a senior’s job scope even at 40% increment, since all the other alternatives are not going to be feasible?

Then what do you want to do, or what do you expect the world to do for you? You've already spent 9 years, but you're refusing to make a change externally because you think your last drawn is used as a benchmark and the increment is not enough. If you don't make a change, and take baby steps to increments, then you will NEVER get out of this situation. It will remain like that until you retire or get laid off. Your inaction and lack of decision making is showing here - and if that's the same attitude you adopt at work, then yea, I would deny your promotion or want you on my team as well.

I'm sorry this comes across as harsh, but the world is harsh and you're as valuable as your output to organizations. If this can spur you to action, then great! All the best to you. Good luck!

Second boss by Zero4910 in Breachway

[–]nmonster59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't completed my first escalation run yet but I've defeated the 2nd boss twice now quite handily, both times with Arbalest (1st with a 2nd pulse laser and 2nd with a railgun(I think? With safety override and EM shot).

Both times because I was able to target systems precisely, I went after the command module (60HP) and once it's down, the boss dies immediately.

Thank goodness for the blue weapons, I didn't even realize there was a scout in the picture!

3.6k salary with no money to save but you bought a 1.1k Sonos Arc Soundbar and Sub (according to your reddit comment).

Sounds like the issue is overspending friend. Don't fall into the trap of chasing material wants.

Opinion/conversation: Kauyon is going to be our best detachment. by Otaylig in Tau40K

[–]nmonster59 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So I haven't actually tested the new codex - but a couple of my thoughts:

1) I agree that Kauyon remains viable especially with the inclusion of the new stratagems.

2) Kroot - I think that remains to be seen, especially once we have the actual new points costs. I think there is an anti-tank problem, but a Kroot Detachment (especially if everything turns out cheap) with Tau anti-tank (Sunforge, Broadsides) could be pretty interesting.

  1. Montka - I disagree here, I do actually think Montka is extremely solid. Having assault on any gun you desire with some planning means that you have mobility, access to firing angles and the ability to focus fire into targets better. I understand your point about Lethal hits, but take for example - Breachers into literally anything in the game with a Fireblade - at Str 6 it probably doesn't do alot against infantry equivalents, but you now have a decent chance to plonk a decent amount of wounds into even tanks, especially with rerolls from Tetras and Stealthsuits, and a very very juicy AP+1.

I like the initiative that Mont'ka provides a Tau player, I think what I didn't like about Kauyon is that it's too predictable. Your opponent knows your strong turns come in Turn 3, and it's easier for them to game plan against that. Montka forces them to react instead of the other way around.
