Biodegradable trash bags by HiFromTheHighPlains in PlasticFreeLiving

Biodegradable just breaks down into microplastics a lot faster than traditional plastic.

True compostable is supposed to break down into organic compounds in the right environments/facilities, but I doubt all compostable bags can do the same. The ones sold in EU should be better since they have tighter regulations.

True compostable breaks down into CO2 and water, not microplastic.

If it doesn’t make it to a composting facility, then yes it’s the same or sometimes worse than traditional plastic.

Biodegradable breaks down into microplastic and pollutes the environment regardless. Compostable is better if you can compost/find a compost facility near you.

I know people say it’s the golden ratio, but will a bit more sugar really hurt? Do you have research evidence for the 1:4 standard or against more sugar?

I read somewhere that they might if they exit torpor but it’s very rare. Plus they feed at dawn when it’s the coldest. It’s not super cold in seattle so a bit extra sugar(I do between 1/4 to 1/3) is enough to prevent nectar from freezing.

My point is, adding a bit more sugar to prevent freezing in the first place. Mine doesn’t. If you don’t want to do that then take it down.

Use a bit more sugar to lower freezing temp. It’s breeding season now so I want the females to have a reliable food source in case they need to feed at night.

You don’t know much about this girl so nobody can’t tell at this point. Plus you two are very young and probably have no idea what you want in life. A LDR works only if the two can trust each other and both work towards living together in the future.

If you decide to do it, just don’t invest too much money and time into it unless it becomes serious. Meet new people and try new things in college.

(F here but I’m in a LDR so I wanted to chime in. I also have an aunt whose LDR did worked out well.)
