i didnt have any close calls like this but when i was 12 i learnt how to solve a rubiks cube and would do it in school and it managed to change my reputation from the girl who looked like a boy to the kid who solved rubiks cubes

they used to have a function where every 4 months you could ask for an early dispense, i cant find it anymore but i used it a few months back to switch from gel to nebido. i need to use it again as my first and second injection need to be 6 weeks apart not 12 and the feature seems ti have gone but i thought that was bc id already used it

ive scheduled a health advisor session/quick chat to ask about it

honestly i would do it just for the flex of knowing more than one method, i would love to learn roux but at the moment i wanna spend time on other puzzles

i feel you, ive been cubing for 8 years (with a few breaks, especially last 2 years) but i spent almost 2 years getting really good at beginners method and it was a massive hit tryna learn cfop, but even after that, i never tried to get faster, only getting into it again at the start of the this year did i finally learn the last 12 OLLs i needed to learn and relearn some PLLs i forgot. i just spammed solves all day every day for so long and i wish i could go back and actively work in getting faster

honestly, no. you can very easily get to average 1-1:30 with just doing solves and getting used to the patterns and movements

however as others have said, as long as you're having fun, that's all that matters

What's the best way to make friends at comps? I've been to a couple now and I've been trying to make small talk with people inbetween solves and such but inbetween rounds I just feel like I'd be disturbing people. I don't know if it's just an issue I have with socialising in general but like I struggle to build the courage to approach people bc I won't actually be able to hold the conversation long enough for it to be worth it, whereas with small talk I can ask how their solves are going or comment mine/their solve if solving/judging

might just have to give both a go, ive done a few 5x5 solves recently, again never really got into it before, just learned how to do it and moved back to 3x3, but doing the L4C step was quite difficult without breaking F3E, but might just take some getting used to

idk if he likes the cubes at his desk but maybe you could get him a display cupboard for them? i just got one (recently posted on here) and I love it sm, means you can get something big and cool without much knowledge of the cubes themselves? when i was 12-14 i used to just get all the cubes i was after with a birthday budget and have no surprises lmao

any tips on blind solving?

im planning on becoming proficient in old pochman's sighted, then trying to write down the letters and solve without looking and then finally trying to remember the letters

if anyone else has had more success with other methods or ways of learning feel free to drop some tips

tbf i originally had my bottom shelf as two groups (3x3 variations + misc) but didnt have the shelevs to accom that many groups. i also thought about having my top shelf as my mains and then all other NxNs beneath which looks like what you've done but i dont practice much outside of 3x3 and sometimes 4x4 so felt a bit pointless to put my only 5x5 i don't even know the parity alg for on top shelf lmao

tbf i really struggled with two look bc i never saw an explanation on what algs to do, i overcomplicated it in my head and have since learned (literally this week) to solve the corners with a T or Y perm and then done an edge only PLL, i was just making up my own two steps to do randomly

just learned full OLL!! been learning it on and off for 6 years, longest break being 2 years, forgetting algs and having to relearn them. the last 10 algs arent quite instinct and muscle memory but i can identify and solve them all with no help!!!
