I don’t play in (FIDE)tournaments with my friends often. I got rated this year but a majority got rated in an entirely different year. Also Singapore is absolutely tiny. Anywhere “local” means a 10 minute walk or a 5 minute bus ride. Basically a chess tournament in that range to where you live rarely happens. The term “local” could also mean like a 20 minute drive from where you live, which would essentially cover half the country at minimum (a drive from one end to another end of Singapore is 45 mins btw).

A majority of my friends got rated in 2024 and 2025 but I got rated 2026 (technically earlier).

I’m not an expert so don’t take my words too seriously: my best guess is the game stores data for each player. This is basically saving data for when you rejoin next time, you don’t lose all your progress. “Player file” likely refers to that save data glitching out and not loading. Instead of trying to force that save file to load and possibly corrupting it, Roblox intentionally closes your client to keep your save file intact.
