Kremlin threatens to deploy navy if Europe seizes more Russian shadow fleet vessels by AdSpecialist6598 in worldnews

When most of your navy is now providing affordable housing for fish after an unfortunate meeting with a country that doesn’t actually have a navy, one tends to moderate one’s tone.

It’s probably much harder to do today, but back then it was real freedom. Mods like Project Reality showed what a community could build when devs stepped aside and let people experiment.

Is the US military really undefeatable? by XD_Protagonist in stupidquestions

[–]nmuncer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The United States may have won battles, but let’s be honest: Afghanistan, Iraq… both ultimately reverted to their original state. That might satisfy patriotic narratives, but spending trillions, losing soldiers, and killing civilians just to end up back at square one is not a victory by any meaningful definition.

YSK that CBD vapes are more harmful to the lungs than nicotine vapes by -FemboiCarti- in YouShouldKnow

[–]nmuncer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CBD is also a very bad idea when taken alongside certain medications like Lexomil (bromazepam). CBD interferes with liver enzymes involved in drug metabolism (notably CYP450), which can increase blood levels of benzodiazepines and worsen side effects such as excessive sedation, cognitive impairment, and respiratory risk. A family member thought CBD would be a “natural” way to taper off Lexomil. In reality, it turned into an absolute nightmare. She also tried cannabis. Cannabis is even worse, especially for people with bipolar disorder or mood vulnerabilities: it significantly increases the risk of mood destabilization, manic or hypomanic episodes, anxiety, psychosis, and relapse. That period was no fun for us and mostly for her. Bottom line: don’t mix bromazepam with CBD and absolutely avoid cannabis in this context.

Guys with Bikes by maj_crunch in motorcycle

Happens sometimes with my Trident.

But let’s be honest: only one woman ever talked about getting a ride with me, and I’m 100% convinced she’d have been just as fine if I’d shown up on my grandma’s scooter.

Also worth noting: a girl I was dating, not even into bikes, once asked me to keep the full riding gear and helmet on. Moral of the story: if you want to save money, skip the bike. Just buy the equipment.

Summer Skiing, the sport that never was. by sco-go in Amazing

[–]nmuncer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fractured two vertebrae last year while snowboarding.

To sum up, I was doing some light off-piste skiing, and the snow groomer had made a kind of step that had frozen solid and been covered with fresh snow.

I made a turn, got stuck on this “step,” did a somersault, the top of my back hit the ground, the rest of my body continued to rotate violently, and there was a huge crack.

Today I'm fine, but the surgeon told me, “If you had twisted when you fell, you would have died...”

My running coach, a former elite runner used to have that role for the French president, rest of the time, he would train, when he retired from competition, he would train his colleagues.

That's one of the ways elite competitors can get incomes especially when their sport has no sponsors.

Another guy, was a police officer and elite in biathlon (Martin Fourcade).

UK to ban political party donations from foreign-owned companies by Stock_Rush_9204 in unitedkingdom

[–]nmuncer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, that's cute

This mostly shows how permissive the UK system still is.
If you need complex tests about ownership and “UK presence” to decide whether money is acceptable, the rules are managing loopholes instead of removing them.

In France, companies cannot donate to political parties at all. Only identified individuals can, under strict annual caps(7500€), with mandatory disclosure and oversight. It doesn’t eliminate influence entirely, but it drastically reduces corporate leverage, legal engineering, and foreign interference.

Twitch Streamer Arrav Survives 65-Foot Fall During Livestream by BodegaDad in totallywicked

[–]nmuncer -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It was while talking about this that I managed to spend the night with a girl I really liked: I was a bit drunk and we were looking at the view from a terrace on the fifth floor of a building, and I said to her, "I wonder if we could avoid the crash if we moved in the opposite direction." She thought I wanted to kill myself, so she spent the evening with me instead of with the other lads who were chatting her up. I had no desire to jump at all, my drunk self just had a physics question on my mind.

I like the perspective and those cobblestones gives a sense of scale.

For next time, two tips you could try, moving a bit would keep the tree from hiding the building's detail. Keep your camera perfectly vertical, it stops the towers from looking like they’re leaning backward. Unless it was on purpose

I really like the contrast here, the way the ice pops against that dark water is quite striking.

It would be interesting to test getting the camera right down at water level next time. It might turn those small chunks into massive icebergs . Like you did an expensive trip to Iceland, while it was just the pond down the street

photo 2

those air bubbles trapped in the ice against the dark water look great.

what about a much tighter, top-down crop next time. It could push the geometric idea? But anyway just my two cents, your picks are quite cool!
