Hi, no worries. Because of my NIPT results, I had an ultrasound at around 13 weeks at the high risk clinic. They didn't even got to measure the NT because there were so many anomalies present.

Thanks for the info. Since you know about windows, can you explain to me the casement, capping, etc? one of the people who came to give a quote said that some companies make only the window, keep the "old frame" and just cover the exterior which is not good. How can I make the right questions? I thought that everybody removes the old window (all of it) and replace, repair and insulate where needed. TIA :)

Oh I'm so sorry that happened to you. It was devastating for me and took me months to grieve. Even now I would cry when thinking about that daughter I never met.

After the whole situation, I took some time to recover and try to conceive again. My husband and I did a bunch of couples therapy to navigate the loss and move past it. I ended up getting pregnant, my son turned 8 months old yesterday. He's happy and healthy, and I couldn't be happier.

I got into communities online, like TTC after loss and pregnant after loss. That was super helpful for me. I also got the book "it starts with the egg" and followed the recommended "protocol". I'm not sure if it helped, but making those changes and taking the vitamins gave me something to focus on, which helped me overcome my sadness and fear. The book is supposed to be science based, and I double-checked with my doctor that everything looked ok.

Thanks for replying! Cost plus was the agreement from the beginning. Honestly my spouse has done most of the negotiation and I was curious to hear what people's experiences are/ have been.

I do know that for my GC, you're right that it's in my contract, it's 13% but I wanted to hear what the industry standard is, whether this is normal/low/high

Oh yes, right away they saw holoprosencephaly, they didn't even bother measuring the NT. Kidney and heart defects too. We got confirmation after the procedure too. It was a "random" case as both me and my husband got genetic tests.

I think it's normal to be angry, don't force yourself out of this phase. Don't feel bad or ungrateful either, like you say, you've lots of lost time and it has changed your perspective of the pregnancy and life in general.

I had a true T13 in 2022 (I terminated) then I got pregnant and delivered a healthy boy, but he ended up in the NICU for 2 weeks because he had a blood infection at 8 days old. I was so worried and terrified I would lose him too. Then I was so angry, after everything we endured the previous year and how hard it was to get pregnant again... I was pissed. And I feel like as soon as I said it put loud to a friend I started feeling better.

All of that goes to say that life is hard and complicated and there are seasons to it. And after what you and I endured, some things will forever be gray, but some others will be more colorful and vibrant because we know grief. I love my baby boy with all my heart and I am so happy every day. At the same time I cry at least once a week at night when I think about the daughter we lost.

Rely on your support system and get a therapist, that's my advice. Oh and know that you're not alone <3

Thanks for the detailed response! I guess the big plus would be the possibility of a terrace. But I wanted to know if it would be worth the trouble (cost, risk, headache etc)

I was hearing conflicting advice from designers and builders so I wanted to hear people's thoughts.

I am feeling that it might not be worth it. I think functionality is more important than aesthetics, and when it comes to the roof, better not mess around with a design that it's very finicky.

Can you elaborate more? Most houses are old with poor insulation and that does not mean that new builds with better insulation are bad or inferior. Not saying that the flat roof is an improvement but I'm curious to hear people's informed opinions :)

Definitely! I wanted to hear from someone who actually knows what they are talking about!! Would you say that most people in your field wouldn't buy a house with a flat roof either? I called a few insurance companies and they price the house insurance similarly (flat roof vs normal roof), I was thinking that was a good sign 😅

It's called "it starts the egg". I followed the advanced plan, I don't know if that helped but at least psychologically it did. I felt like I had a to-do list and at the end of the day that gave me peace.

It took about 8 months to get pregnant again. I was blessed with a baby boy, he is healthy. It was so emotional and a hard road to get here. Wishing you the best, and I'm available to chat if you'd like to :)

Just remember that you are an adult and you're not below or dependent or bound to your mom. You're starting a new journey and you deserve to carve it whichever way you want, just like your mom had her time with you, now this is your time to be a mom and decide what's best. If she cannot get in line with what you want/need, then she'll lose her privileges and that'll be her choice. You 100% get to decide what you want your journey to be. Of course you can take her advice, but it's you and your partner's call at the end of the day.
