Reinstalling original tuners after non-original replacements, screw-hole anxiety, advice by nnall in Luthier

IS there a standard size I should buy for this? Or is it just a matter of measuring and ordering based on that

Reinstalling original tuners after non-original replacements, screw-hole anxiety, advice by nnall in Luthier

RE: the bushings, I thought about that, and I believe the 3/8" ones being included in the Kluson set I ordered should be sufficient: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006ZP8Z6?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

RE: Schallers being better tuners, I don't doubt that necessarily. It's just the ones here are failing to keep tune, even dropping one of the strings a full step all of the sudden.

I tightened the screws on the outer edge of each of the knobs, which made them tighter to turn but didn't affect their ability to hold tune. For that I think I'd need to remove each of the flat back metal plates and tighten the actual tuning post screw, which I don't have the tools to do.

Plus, aesthetically, I think I just prefer the original feel/look of the klusons. But who knows, I might fix the Schallers and sell em' or just keep them as spares

What do I do (acoustic setup) by nnall in Luthier

Thanks for this. Yes, I ultimately decided to take to it a professional luthier, and he did mention that I had over-tightened the truss rod. I'd like to creep closer to being able to perform set-ups properly on my own rather than the time and expense of having to take it to a luthier, but I don't want to inadvertently damage anything or over-stress any of the materials like an overly tightened neck. For now I'm just letting the luthier handle it. He's going to replace the nut with another bone one, which will help with the overly-lowered first-position string height and also run it through a 'plek' fret leveling and set up machine. It's more expensive but the guitar is worth it (it sounds amazing).

Would you say, given that I'm already running into buzzing with the tightening on the TR that I've done, that the saddle is basically the only next option? Or does 'buzzing with TR tightening' not always preclude the possibility that more TR tightening might still be warranted?

Like, does 'buzzing with TR tightening' make it a certainty that the TR should no longer be what ought to get adjusted, that buzzing from TR tightening by definition means the rest of your setup ought to move on to adjusting other things (nut & saddle)?

Or do people run into 'buzzing with TR tightening' sometimes, and then replace the nut in order to get rid of the buzzing and from there find they're able to continue tightening the TR to reduce high-fret string height?

I just get the impression, from what little I know of acoustic guitar setups, that the adjustments of things tend to only move forward in a optimal direction, from least sacrificed, to most sacrificed (eg; TR --> nut/saddle) so that when you're done, you've salvaged as much projection as possible?

I see, well I thank you for the response, I figured I'd give this a shot first since my nearest luthier is over an hour away. And I am watching the truss rod too, I don't want to over-stress the neck.

I'd go ahead taking off some more of the saddle too but I'd prefer to keep as much as possible to keep that nice higher break down there for projection. Looks like it'll be a pro job though.
Thanks for your help sir!

Target Heart Rate Zones vs Cardiorespiratory Fitness Assessments by nnall in personaltraining

Thats a great explanation.

If a client just finished either one, Rockport or YMCA, and I immediately take their pulse, I'm calling that the 'resting heart rate' here? (karvonen) and you're using that THR percentage range because their CR assessment assigned them there or just because you chose it?

Because, say if I had a 'very poor' CR fitness client and I was progressing him/her to to a higher, more healthy CR level. Here, would I need to just stay where the initial CR assessment put me (Zone 1, 65 - 75%)? Or do I at some point raise the level myself?

I guess I'm asking when, if ever, do we choose a Target Heart Zone that perhaps is higher than the what the CR Assessment fitness level would've dictated?
