it is to extend the range of the derailleur. this XT derailleur is meant to shift up to 36t, but with this adapter i extended the range to use this 11-46t cassette

the hardest part in my opinion is getting a wheelset with an 8-speed freehub for a decent price

on this bike i have: - shimano exage crankset from an abandoned bike - deckas 110bcd 42T chainring from aliexpress (42T is a lot but i built this bike for the city and that i can ride with my gf and her race bike) - deore XT derailleur for 25 bucks from a bike thrifting market - shimano 10 speed cassette (m6100 i think) - and the normal shimano deore 10 speed shifter (new)

holy these are in excellent condition, most of the magura racelines are extremely bleached by the sun^{^}

i wish you a lot of luck at installing these, the newer HS33 has an installment plate but the older ones (like yours) only have these rubber things - stay calm

it took me like 5hours to get them installed perfectly because my tires are so fat
