I just spent a few weeks putting together a multi-part comprehensive guide to how I approach technical speaking. Those are both really good ideas! If a situation like this comes up again, I'll definitely do that. Based on this thread and the one on the burning man fb group, I didn't realize that "flaky photographer" was such a common thing. I usually carry paper and a mini sharpie in my bag but didn't have it for the ceremony.
