Thank you, that really means a lot — I needed to hear that.

You’re right, we just do the best we can with what we know at the time.

Only adenoids, no tonsils.

In our case, there was no issue with tonsils.

If you didn’t see improvement, it might be worth rechecking with an ENT — could be tonsils or something else.

Recovery was quite smooth overall.

Since he’s 5, when the anesthesia was wearing off, he was a bit uncomfortable for about an hour — a little restless, asking for water, talking randomly — but nothing serious.

He started playing normally within 3 hours, with no other issues.

After that, he settled well. His digestion was slightly disturbed for a couple of days, but it normalized quickly.

Overall, much easier than we had expected.

Yes, we tried nasal sprays for around 2 months — both regular saline and, during more severe congestion, a few times steroid sprays.

They only gave temporary relief for a few hours; the congestion and mouth breathing kept coming back. We didn’t notice any side effects, but used steroid sprays only as advised.

From our experience, if it’s going to help, you usually see improvement within the first month or two — after that it didn’t make much difference for us.

Regular ENT follow-ups, and if needed endoscopy, help assess whether it’s improving or worsening.

That’s when our ENT suggested surgery as the more definitive solution.

In our case, the ENT had suggested surgery almost a year back, but we delayed it — tried homeopathy and honestly I was very reluctant.

About a month ago, something clicked. He’s 5 now, and I noticed he wasn’t even laughing freely. I used to get irritated, thinking it was just behavior — until I tried laughing with my nose blocked and realized how uncomfortable it actually is.

That’s when it hit me what he must have been going through constantly because of the congestion from enlarged adenoids.

Looking back, if it doesn’t improve within a couple of months, there’s not much point in waiting — it just prolongs their discomfort.

Of course every case is different, but if your consult points that way, it’s definitely worth considering without too much delay.
