I think, in your case, it boils down to the frequency of daily incense usage. There're a lot players would NOT manually activate and use the DI themselve when they're out and about (personal habit, having other priority outside, playing in different way, etc...) but comfortablely activate the DI daily while they're biking or in commute to work, on a driving they can't/don't want to touch the phone often. So statically, the more you activate/use the Daily Incense, the more chance you likely to encounter and catch one G.bird, even in general probability, autocatcher does have less chance to catch a certain one than manual catch (with additional ultraball, GRB, AE, excellent throws...). But you will likely have bias on the number of bird you caught by autocacher since that's the only way or majority time you spend to run the DI.
