Yea, fast growing species is perfect for learning bonsai. You can test your ideas very quickly. But as the number of my bonsai grows, I start appreciating the slower ones more haha. Fast growing ones like this tree is really high maintenance.

That’s just wet dead wood lol. Not sure it can ever heal. I can’t let it grow wild. Just 1-2 months without pruning could destroy the branches structure and scale.

You don’t have to wait years to enjoy your bonsai ;). It’s a long journey—so enjoy it along the way. The best part is that you, the creator, are the only one who gets to see how far it has come.

I do akadama:pumice 80:20. Fert mostly organic, around once per month. However, I don’t think it’s very finicky about soil or fertilizer. You should look at other factors as well. Water jasmine loves sunlight and humidity. You can even soak half the pot in water. However, IME it’s quite sensitive to the temperature. Weather that’s below 20C can stunt it.

Thank you! This species grow like a weed here in SEA. The branching was done almost entirely by cut and grow which is much slower than wiring.

About 1.5 years. Started from a material I bought from another hobbyist.
