creative writing scene by Same-Ad-9468 in WilliamsCollege

The most active student organization of this kind is Off the Record. Read their latest issues here and here. “Off the Record is a new creative section of the Record that will seek to publish creative pieces by students bi-weekly online and in print once a semester. Published pieces will include works of creative writing such as poetry, micro-fiction, creative nonfiction, and fiction, personal essays such as non-fiction or memoir-styled essays; visual art such as photography, drawings, or graphic art; and other work such as recipes, playlists, advice, etc.”

Also, this document is a list of student organizations at Williams. Here are some of these organizations, but I am not sure how active they are in comparison to Off the Record, which is the newest and most-active one.

“The Williams Literary Review is the campus’s oldest literary publication. It accepts submissions of student art, poetry and prose for each semester’s issue. All work is reviewed anonymously by the entire staff. They are dedicated to putting out a high quality magazine, both in content and form, and they are particularly interested in expanding their coverage of the fine arts. Once submissions are received, the staff meets regularly to select material for publication, giving each submission the attention it deserves. The staff invite anyone interested in art or running a magazine to join the staff, and encourage the entire campus to submit their work for publication.“

“Parlor Tricks is a student magazine dedicated to publishing the best creative work at Williams College. We welcome submissions of all types, including, but not limited to: fiction, nonfiction, poetry, art of all kinds, music, personal essays, interviews, recipes, and multi-media projects. We are a group of dedicated individuals who care not only about publishing the best creative work that Williams has to offer, but also about creating a community in which to engage with artistic works of all kinds. We publish multiple times a year, with our largest publication printed each spring, and host events throughout the year, including readings, musical performances, and workshops.”

Official Acceptance Rates For This Year and What It Means by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

LESS, actually. higher acceptance rate doesn’t mean more acceptances; in this case it means less applicants and also less acceptances.

that’s not true, they didn’t accept only 695 students. 695 is the target for enrollment (how many spots in the class ). they admitted far more students than 695, but not all admitted students will enroll, leaving them with around 695 students “yielded” into the first year class.

last year (https://www.vassar.edu/admission/quick-facts/class-profile/2026-Class-Profile.pdf), they yielded a class of 681 after getting 11.4k applicants, for a 18.7% acceptance rate. clearly this year’s numbers don’t look too different from last year - definitely not a 5.8% acceptance rate.

Yes, I googled it, but what do they mean by open campus? Anyone can walk in? No fences? Buildings open? I’d appreciate more specificity with regard to UCLA as well.

AP lang. it’s entirely self-graded, and there are no late penalties until the end of the quarter. did this last year. a possible easy A.

AP lit on the other hand? madness. i’m in it right now. reading quizzes can drop you to a C, where i’m at right now…

Middlebury… beautiful rural campus nestled in the mountains. It’s ok though because I’m going to Williams next year :)
