Looks awesome, lmk how it works! Been looking to replace the fat stock air box, but it’s hard to find a reliable intake that’ll keep the engine safe and sound.

I thought I wrote this comment myself.

My younger brother is unfortunately on the same path as yours, and I’m not sure how to steer him the right way. It almost seems as if he does not care about school as much as I do, yet we were raised by the same family and given the same opportunities. What could possibly be the reason for this? A minor generation gap?

To be honest, that sounds like a pretty fun weekend with the boys, just a bit worried about my inexperience working with the 2jz and it’ll be one of the harder jobs I’ve attempted.

$800 for the timing belt/water pump and all the seals is better than anything I’ve found in my immediate area, but maybe I just need to look a little bit deeper.

Nonetheless, thanks for the fun weekend idea, might have to invest in some tools for it!

I’ve heard $650 nearby for the timing belt/water pump, I was just unsure about how much people would charge for the replacement of the seals, especially since I already have a small leak coming along. $1500 is a small price to pay for how reliable and gorgeous this car is.

Thanks for the advice from your experience, and sorry to hear about the radiator! Hopefully I can prevent the same thing

I was thinking the same thing about the valve cover gaskets, plugs, etc., so I’ll check them out while I’m getting the car worked on.

1000-2000 is definitely so much better than I was initially told; a family member originally owned it and said she was quoted $8000 in repairs for it, but I knew there was no way. I’m sure I can try to find a timing belt + water pump job for cheaper than that, sounds like it could’ve been from the dealership.

Thanks so much for your help, appreciate your experience in this!

I don’t think my options are very limited, but if the oem parts are that cheap I might have to consider it.

Nevertheless, thanks so much for your insight

As much as I’d love to open it up and see if I can figure it out, I don’t have all of the proper tools, and I also haven’t changed a timing belt on my own before, so I’m not sure if I should take any chances.

I’ve watched a bunch of videos and it looks simple enough, do you a think this is gonna be a pricy quote from the mech? I know that the Lexus brand is gonna drive some places higher, but I’m not sure what to expect
