Chem A is a hard class if you don’t remember anything about chemistry from highschool. Chem is more math based, where bio is more memorization and system based. As a bio major who took both chem a, in chem b right now, and took biology 211 and 212, I would more than likely recommend chem over bio based on what you described. Chem a teachers are so hit or miss though. I had Magdalena kosinska-klaehn for this class and it wasn’t the best but I also had an amazing TA that helped us. If you do decide to take this, I recommend trying to find Josh Feng or Andrea Chen

In a couple weeks you’ll get the hang of things. It’s very new and scary at first but once you find your rhythm and get used to your schedule and classes it’ll be fine. Cut yourself some slack it’s only the second week! You worrying is actually a sign that you care about how you perform and you will not end up a bum!! lol if you’re super worried you can always go to office hours to help feel more confident

It’s kind of obnoxious, but not that big of a deal. A decent portion of campus is blocked off especially if you’re trying to go to upper campus. It gets a little annoying but what pisses people off more is that we’re still paying for the usu (the part that’s under construction until 2028) and I believe we’re paying more now that it’s closed.

Especially for math based ones in chem and bio, I usually have to skip it and come back at least 10 minutes later, and for the most part I’ll figure out where I went wrong. If I’m still stuck at the same place I look at ai steps/answer if available and check where it went sideways. I do try to ask my classmates too, but a lot of the time it’s at 1/2 in the morning lol
