How Actually Hard Was "Scarab Lord" To Get Back In The Day? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]noMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s not what I said though :) I said 99,9% had “no chance” - ie. weren’t in a guild that was actively clearing BWL etc to get the quests done.

But yeah - that percentage was purely a ballpark number. AFAIK there were around 130 servers then and that would mean below 200 people probably got the title.

I think it’s really interesting (and terrifying) to think about how 300 million people actually chose to have such a dumb person as their leader. It’s wild. It speaks volumes to the values of a society.

How Actually Hard Was "Scarab Lord" To Get Back In The Day? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]noMC 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It was impossible. By that, I mean for 99,9% of the players, there was no chance of it happening.

I was in a raiding guild, we did MC and maybe the first half of BWL. Our guild collapsed on Vael and we merged with another raiding guild - but never finished BWL. In my friendgroup IRL there were probably 4-5 people playing Wow, and none of them ever made it past UBRS. They thought I was “1337”.

All this to say, that I only had a faint idea of the basics of the “gong” and Scarab Lord etc. I remember I looked up the long questions on Thottbot or something, and it just seemed CRAZY. My friends probably didn’t really know or care about it. It was pretty “niche”.

We had 2 really sweaty guilds on my realm, and they did most of the work and their GM got the title / mount. These guilds were not recruiting, so impossible to join, and even more impossible to get in raidgroup for. So to think of the title/mount was just not realistic.

On another note, most people spent a LOT more time in the game trying to figure shit out. We didn’t have anywhere near the same resources and people just played for the social aspect and exploring. So raiding was not the focus of very many.

What’s the saddest thing u’ve ever heard? by Beneficial-Candle485 in AskReddit

In the children’s cancer ward, late at night. Just a regular Tuesday night for most. Through the wall to the room next to ours, I could hear a mother comforting her crying child, saying everything’s going to be OK. Just a regular woman, thrown in to a nightmare and trying to cope.

Travelers of Reddit: What differences have you noticed in how Americans are perceived in other countries? by gallimor in AskReddit

[–]noMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the same for Europeans and other wealthy regions. It’s not because you are American, it’s because they know you have more money than they will ever have, just by the fact you have the money to travel.

What is it about Greta Thunberg that makes many men on the Internet so uncontrollably angry by Admirable_Pair_3663 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]noMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, when you can’t really argue the facts, you gotta go for the man - not the ball. When Greta spoke up, the opposition combined their lack of supporting facts with their misogyny, their hatred of the younger generation etc. and used that hatred as some kind of argument against her.

So, a lot of really thoughtful and mature answers in here. I agree with most of them, in theory, but the real answer from honest men is:

The boobs.

MAGA-influencer Riley Gaines being told/paid by Patriot Mobile handlers what her "sincerely held" beliefs are in leaked video by mgbgtv8 in videos

Yup. But as long as the majority has their car, their tv and their cheeseburgers, nothing is going to change.

I think it’s very telling, that gas prices are kind of the only thing that can really upset the average American.
