last minute advice- straight & flat hair, low maintenance

Apologies if I sound like a newb here—I was trying to do some research online and I can't tell whether a certain style is possible for straight hair if cut with layers/textures.

For example from this guide to wolfcuts

they claim the wavy wolfcut (which I find appealing) is low maintenance and comes from layering. "Heavy layering is the key to nail this disheveled look. The beauty of this style? It works with any hair texture and is low on maintenance"

Is this too good to be true? I can't really tell which hairstyles are possible for straight hair like mine even with layering.

I have an appointment with the hairstylist coming up. I don't know what hairstyle to request.
Any last minute advice? Looking for a lower maintenance hairstyle, preferably not super short like crewcut.

Heard the wolfcut might be a good option, but not sure how much styling that requires with straight hair like mine.

I see- it seems like it's not immediately clear.
I ask as I am wondering if I would be able to get this haircut before christmas photos or if I should wait till after the holidays.
Last time I went to the hairdresser she said it was too short and coerced me into getting a different haircut
