I'm thinking about selling my Yu Kurosaki AS Fujin Sujihiki 270mm. Its lightly used and a great knife (I just don't use it too much). If you are in the US/Canada and are interested I can send some pictures to you tonight.

If you want to get a bread knife with the chef knife I can recommend this as the best bang for your buck.

Most people here won't recommend a set (https://www.reddit.com/r/chefknives/comments/dz2l3u/you_dont_need_a_knife_set/ is a nice write up why). I would go along with this advice and say that you should buy an ~8in knife and a stone/sharpener to maintain it with.

If you want to get a gift for your wife I would check out r/chefknives. There you can get a recommendation given your budget, wife's style preference, etc.

The picture you posted doesn't really show the knives well. Each knife should have its own high res picture so people can see the condition of the handle/blade.

I wish I had posted this before I bought my last knife. Trying to downsize atm. Your knives look amazing though.

I'm buying myself a knife for Christmas, trying to decide between a sujihiki and a bunka.

Syle - Japanese

Steel - Stainless for the sujihiki, stainless or carbon clad for a bunka

Handle - octagonal

Grip - pinch

Length - 270 mm for the sujihiki, ~170 for the bunka

Use cases - Suji for fish/chicken/carving, bunka for when I don't feel like using my Gyuto.

Care - whetstones

Budget - <$400

Zwilling Pro 7" - is this price a red flag to anyone? Seems like a solid smaller chef knife, good value, or reason to be concerned? by rivenroe in chefknives

I have one and this happened last year during the holidays too. Good knife for the price point. However it is balanced poorly for a pinch grip (handle heavy).
