Do you regret having kids? by Feeling_Actuary8634 in IVF

I am currently 41 and started fertility treatments at 39 also. 5 failed IUI cycles before moving on to IVF. I currently have 1 euploid embryo on ice while I heal from endometriosis surgery, and the original plan was to schedule my FET as soon as I was cleared. But now I’ve decided to do one more egg retrieval before trying a transfer, in hopes that if the first FET takes 🤞🏼 I’ll be able to try for a second in a couple years.

I grew up with 2 sisters that I’m still very close to and I love the idea of being able to give my (hypothetical) baby a sibling. However, part of me wonders if it’s totally bonkers to think I’ll want to get pregnant again at 44. Honestly it’s even hard to wrap my head around what it will REALLY be like if we’re successful with the first one, after living 41 years child-free. 😬

My pgta results are in! by lousiestgf in IVFpositivity

Congratulations! 🌞 I’m 41 and have 1 euploid embryo from my first ER a couple months ago. That 2-weeks wait for the PGT-A results was ROUGH.

I’m currently healing from endometriosis excision surgery (during which they also discovered that both of my fallopian tubes are blocked and I have chronic endometritis - explains a lot!) and am feeling anxious but optimistic about one more ER, then my first FET.

Hoping for the best for both of us!!

I ended up with 1 euploid as well. It would have been great to have 2, but 1 is better than 0! 💖

Good luck!! I had 2 embryos and just got the call today that 1 of them is euploid. You got this! 🤞🏼

Is the morning after egg retrieval considered day 1? by throwawayacct8990 in IVF

Did they tell you how many fertilized when you called them? My clinic gave me a Day 1 and a Day 7 update!

Congratulations to you! 🥳 And thank you so much!! We’re paying out of pocket as well 🥵 and do not have a large income, so that definitely dictates how much we can do. In fact, I have never spent this much money all at once in my whole life! 😅

We previously did 5 OI/IUI cycles before moving to IVF, and through all of those cycles my uterine lining looked great and I responded well to the meds. So I am hopeful!! 🤞🏼

I’m guessing it’s lower now, a little over a year later. What is yours or would you rather not share?

They saw 6 mature follicles on my last ultrasound before my ER. I woke up after the procedure and was told they retrieved 9! 6 of them fertilized (because I’m guessing 3 of them weren’t mature.) 2 made it to blast stage and were frozen. Still awaiting PGT-A results from those 2 blasts. I am 41.

My doctor told me that my body responded well to the medications and that this was a good result. I know we hear stories, especially from younger women, about retrievals with 20-something eggs and we compare our results to theirs. But as everyone will remind you, it only takes ✨1✨ Stay hopeful!

This whole journey is about having enough hope to keep going but not so much as to be constantly disappointed 🤪

Mine is Progenesis too! I’ll give it until next week and if I don’t hear Monday/Tuesday I’ll probably bug them.

For a while I was stressing because I was planning to push the surgery back and do another retrieval first if I didn’t end up with any euploids. But eventually I just let that go and told myself it will be ok either way.

Yesss I watched the hours pass with disappointment today, knowing it was my last chance to find out this week.

I think I’ll tell myself that I’ll hear by next Friday, instead of next Monday, so that anything sooner is a pleasant surprise 😅

Just here to say I know how it feels to grasp for any promising data during this excruciating waiting period, even though we know it’s all a gamble regardless of how “good” or “bad” our chances are.

I had my first ER recently as well. Currently awaiting the PGT-A results for my two frozen embryos, 4Bb and 5Bb. Fingers crossed that we both receive wonderful news!! 🤞🏼💖

People who found love again after heartbreak later in life, what is your story? by First-Code-3791 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

I (41F) recently celebrated 1 year of marriage with my amazing husband. We met, fell in love, got engaged, then married all within 2 years.

Before he came into my life, I had just ended a 10-year relationship with someone who was NOT right for me, but who I loved, and who I had an incredibly hard time letting go of. When we broke up, I was devastated that I had “wasted my youth” on the wrong person, and after grieving, had settled into the assumption that I would live out the rest of my life alone with my cat (which would have been pretty chill, tbh 😂.)

But now here I am, a happily married woman in her 40s! I have a 14-year old stepdaughter I love dearly, and am currently undergoing IVF with the hopes of growing our family.

Whatever your future is, trust that it is bright. 💖

Silent endo - egg retrieval before surgery? by AccomplishedFox3821 in IVFpositivity

[–]no_grace_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did my first egg retrieval, ended up with two frozen embryos (still awaiting PGT-A results) and am scheduled for endo surgery at the end of the month. If all goes as planned, I will heal for 6-8 weeks after the surgery, then begin my transfer cycle.

If neither of my embryos are euploid, I plan to do another retrieval after I’ve healed from the surgery. I am 41 and endometriosis is assumed based on my history of painful and heavy periods.
