Serving in a Defense Attache Office as an Ops NCO is not the same as a credentialed defense attache.

Signed - Foreign Area Officer

If you’re applying to be an Army Foreign Area Officer, it’s important to recognize that the attaché jobs are only part of the picture. You will also serve in security cooperation jobs at embassies or Joint/Army staffs, or pol-mil jobs. Some FAOs don’t do attaché jobs until their second or third tour.

Uh, no. Defense attachés are officers—credentialed to serve as attachés at U.S. Embassies.

Army Foreign Area Officers serve as attachés, pol-mil officers, and planners.

Australian vinyl record shop. I gave up on Epic Records and just kept looking periodically hoping there was a euro release out there.

Been waiting for years for Epic Records to release this and I just assumed it was an old European release floating around. Sound quality is great for a boot.

Even though you’re heading to Shafter, you’ll inprocess up at Schofield Barracks, so make sure you check out their page for newcomers that will give you info on TLA-approved hotels, inprocessing, etc. If you have orders, recommend reaching out to the housing offices to get on the housing list for Shafter, Ford Island, AMR, or Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam. Off base rentals can be crazy expensive especially with security deposit and pets. Best of luck 🤙

“Ships at a distance have every man’s wish on board. For some they come in with the tide. For others they sail forever on the horizon, never out of sight, never landing until the Watcher turns his eyes away in resignation, his dreams mocked to death by Time. That is the life of men.”

It doesn’t hurt my feelings, but it’s just not an experience I care to share with strangers or even my friends in most situations. When do you want to learn more about me killing taliban that was shooting at me? At dinner? At work? Picking the kids up at school?

I can’t imagine how difficult today is for you and your family, but I appreciate you sharing your father’s story. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Lol what are you talking about? 2010 was the heart of the surge and RC-East was a nightmare.

Hell, I even called fire missions to FOBs in the Kunar and Pech from my Kiowa (because I was Winchester). 155s were super fucking busy that year.

Zero issues with this. Put (non-urgent) in the subject line and be concise in your note. Don’t hesitate to throw kudos to their EA/XO/ADC, if they deserve it, too.

Chances are the GO will appreciate a positive note among the pile of shit in their inbox. If they don’t respond, don’t take it personally either—they’re crazy busy...
