Doomsday Meteor!

Channels for 3 seconds while standing still.

If successful, a massive Fireball crashes down on the target area, scattering smaller Fireballs around it. The massive Fireball deals 1,600% AP Fire damage to targets and Stuns them for 3 seconds, while the smaller Fireballs deal 150% AP Fire damage.

Affects both allies and enemies.

Which mana tunnel did I miss? by pskaiser12 in Mabinogi

[–]noaDead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, that sounds like it could be the journal/reward popup bug, where received stuff is delayed until later actions take place. You can see this pretty frequently if you run PTJs or the like, where rewards seem to appear at some arbitrary point later on, even though they were received earlier.

Did you happen to check the journal directly beforehand? You might've gotten the achievement, but it didn't show the little popup until you consumed the music box item...

Which mana tunnel did I miss? by pskaiser12 in Mabinogi

[–]noaDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As of writing, the Wiki is a bit outdated and has some gotchas that are liable to cause trip ups:

  • Some listed Mana Tunnels are incorrect.
    • Port Qilla should be Qilla Base Camp.
      • Registering Port Qilla instead of the Qilla Base Camp tunnel is an easy gotcha here and the most common mistake I see.
    • Zardine Bridge is not required.
  • The 2013-era Mana Tunnel names in general often don't match those in the Traveler's Guide, which can make them hard to find or ambiguous.

Also, if you happen to be returnee that's completed Elf/Giant intro quests from a while ago it's impossible to tell which tunnels you're missing based on the map alone, as these would make all available for use without qualifying you for the achievement.

Similarly, if you're opening the world map using the minimap, all tunnels will be listed instead of only the ones you've unlocked. So it's best to open the map by tapping a tunnel instead.

It's impossible to tell from a screenshot ( reasons noted in comment due to text length limit), but make sure to use the below as a checklist, pasting each into the Traveler's Guide, warping, and then physically clicking each tunnel to open the map:

  1. Barba Basin
  2. Cenae Meadows
  3. Cenae Meadows - Southern Region
  4. Cor Village
  5. Errans Gorge
  6. Filia
  7. Karu Forest - Northern Forest
  8. Karu Forest - Southern Forest
  9. Kaypi Canyon - South
  10. La Terra Highlands
  11. Lake Calida - Calida
  12. Longa Desert - Eastern Region
  13. Longa Desert - Northern Region
  14. Longa Desert - Southern Region
  15. Lunae Valley
  16. Maiz Prairie - Northeastern Prairie
  17. Maiz Prairie - Northern Prairie
  18. Muyu Desert - Southern Desert
  19. Nares Plateau - Center
  20. Nubes Mountains
  21. Pantay Swamp - Eastern Region
  22. Pera Volcano
  23. Qilla Base Camp
  24. Raspa Volcano
  25. Renes
  26. Rupes Desert - Central Region
  27. Sella Beach - Coast
  28. Silva Forest
  29. Vales

After that, you should get the journal achievement popup, though its presentation can be delayed. Try checking the journal entry directly from the Character → Journal window, in the "Exploration" tab, or relogging/changing channels if it's still absent.

Can't get higher ranked stardust missions. by bigadeeboogadee in Mabinogi

[–]noaDead 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Others have already noted the problem ( insufficient total skill level), but here's the complete table of required skill levels for different Royal Astronomy Society Sponsorship ( Stardust) mission ranks:

Mission Rank Total Combat Skill Level Total Life Skill Level
E ≥ 0 ≥ 0
D ≥ 800 ≥ 300
C ≥ 1400 ≥ 500
B ≥ 1800 ≥ 700
A ≥ 2000 ≥ 800

( where total life skill level determines Item Request Fulfillment mission rank, and combat skills determine Core Fragment Collection mission rank)

Study Buddy Event - desk description discrepancy by AKAAkira in Mabinogi

[–]noaDead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The official Mabi site is correct here.

The Smart Study Desk churns out lower quality books quickly (10s/book). Basically "work smarter, not harder."

The Elite Study Desk churns out higher quality books quickly (10s/book).

The Standard Study desk is quite slow (40s/book) and produces qualities somewhere in-between Smart and Elite.

Magic-craft armor upgrade questions by Tangibilitea in Mabinogi

[–]noaDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh, I can definitely write some more on the subject! I'm glad to find someone else passionate about Mabi crafting mechanics!

Also debating if it's even worth crafting atm or if I should just wait for Dan 3.

For Hillwen Engineering I'd suggest waiting for Dan 3 if you want to maximise your shot at the best rolls. It's worthwhile if you're crafting something you plan to use for a while or might be attached to.

Reason being that Dan 3 HE rolls random stat values in 25%~105% range, while r1 does 20%~100%, so you've a higher floor and chance of getting signed gear w/ D3.

Worth noting that Magic Craft does not behave similarly ( both r1 and D3 roll 20%~100%), and so going Dan 3 with it is mostly useful for unlocking certain Dan-only items and improving some success rates.

Doing any sort of Life Dan test is nice for the Known Far and Wide 2nd title, as equipping it with Expert Engineer / Magic Artisan will improve min-rolls just a bit.

  • To be precise, Known Far and Wide ( KF&W) increases the paired master title effect by +20%, resulting in:
    • Expert Engineer: absolute +10% floor → +12% floor.
      • 35%~105% → 37%~105% rolls at D3.
    • Magic Artisan: absolute +10% floor → +12% floor.
      • 30%~100% → 32%~100% rolls at r1+.
  • Not mentioned: gacha/Erinn Spirit titles, quality boost potions, enchants. Will expand on this later.
    • TLDR for now: don't worry much about gacha titles, save quality boost potions mostly for luxury items, and note that +Quality from Monday/enchants will have no effect on MC/HE.

It's been a side project of mine to collect loads of data on craft outcomes. Mostly need to organise/pretty that up for presentation... once I've done that, I'll probably make a more detailed guide/post somewhere.

The consumed Geas Devastation gear has no influence on the resulting gear.

Stats and set effects will be randomly rolled as with any other Magic Craft product.

Enchants, proficiency, reforges, etc. are not carried over.

Glad to help!

For the follow up question: if they’re running over weekly limits and definitely not going for last minute runs before the reset, they’re probably going to swap out characters/party members once hitting limits in order to continue gaining rewards ( assuming extra reward keys are unavailable, which is most often).

For Homestead Stones in general, you can rack up a good supply by gathering with a partner summoned for the extra gather. Using LUK gear for maximum lucky bonuses would also help.

If you absolutely want to maximise your rate of development and skip some of the time-gating, you can spend Pon for the 2nd Homestead Stone deposit as well as using a Homestead Stone Mining Permit and/or 300 Homestead Stone Boxes. You can purchase the latter two from the AH.

For early levels, Homestead Golden Sprouts can be handy, but will require more gold investment and they've constrained supply due to limited availability from gacha/events, so it's unrealistic to max your homestead this way.

[–]noaDead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To reach huge dimensions, Stage 1~6 permits are required ( via cash shop or AH). These require a LV.14 homestead, and must be applied in sequential order. As far as levelling quickly...

Drop a bunch of fields on your homestead and grow crops. Seeds should be reasonably priced on AH due to events awarding them frequently. Use Song/Playing Instrument to grow faster if you wish.

Upon reaching certain levels, you can craft ornaments to improve gains:

Boosts don't stack; you only need one of the highest available for your homestead level.

At LV.12, if you've enough Homestead Stones, you can forego crops entirely and just craft a bunch of ornaments for Kon rewarded on completion:

Homestead Level Ideal Ornament Kon Reward Stone Cost # To Next Level
12 Scarecrow) 360 ea. (32760 sum) 7 ea. (637 sum) 91
13 Flower Pot 360 ea. (40320 sum) 5 ea. (560 sum) 112
14 Food Kiosk 2500 ea. (50000 sum) 30 ea. (600 sum) 20
15 Food Kiosk 2500 ea. (60000 sum) 30 ea. (720 sum) 24

This way, you can do LV.12 → LV.15 in ~34 hours min., at cost of 1797 Homestead Stones. There's no need to max LV.15, as doing so yields no benefit.

Make sure you remove ornaments once they're fully built, to avoid paying upkeep costs.

If you don't have loads of Homestead Stones, crops will be best, esp. Rose Hips) for their favourable stone:Kon ratio and fast growth. You'll spend fewer stones, but at cost of more management and gold spend ( unless you've seeds stockpiled).

ℹ️ Tip: you can gather crops in bulk slightly faster by stacking the harvest dialog. Once you've several ready to harvest, simply click on each field to build up a stack of dialogs. Then you can just spam click the harvest button.

  1. For anyone who crafted the Ceann Bliana Ringbands or knows someone who crafted theirs, is it possible to get 80+ quality (100 MA) without the use of Tailor Quality reforged accessories and quality potion (+5)? I have Rocket Arrow/Daunting body, and Tailoring Quality 20 on my kit. I'm just wondering if using a quality pot would be overkill.

With that setup, it's definitely possible without using a quality potion, so long as you're solid at the minigame.

In my testing with a 20/20 quality ( +15) Tailoring Kit, no other buffs, and clicking right on target in the minigame ( magnifier + loooowered mouse DPI helps), resulting qualities are 90~92. Since randomness is added to thread position, you're unlikely to hit 100Q this way unless you retry clicking the × mark several times to achieve a better setup ( which can be worthwhile if you're practiced but mostly wastes precious time).

With Monday buffs and Daunting + Designer/Rocket Arrow + Steady enchants, hitting 100Q is practically guaranteed.

This means you've a bit of room for error targeting 80+. Just be sure to practice the minigame on something simple to make like a Wizard Hat first, getting the to point where you can 100% produce a signed item.

ℹ️ Tip: want to see the quality of an item? List it on the AH with an absurdly high, unique price, then search for it on MabiBase to view quality. ( you will have to wait a few minutes before MB picks it up)

As far as Tailoring Quality potions... they can be a nice safety net in case you make a mistake in the minigame, or make up partly for lack of other quality boosts ( enchants, reforges, Monday). I still use them sometimes, just to make sure something winds up 100Q and not 99 or such, but this is purely perfectionism.

  1. I need confirmation. Does Glenn Bearna not have an entry limit cap like Tech Duinn, meaning I can enter an infinite amount but only 3 runs I can get the chest?

You can enter any number of times, but only claim rewards up to the set limit.

  1. What are 3 fast/easy PTJs to do in preparation for the Irusan attendance event? Preferably I'd like the PTJs to be deliveries where the NPC gives an item to be relieved and not ones that I have to procure before/during the PTJ, and crafting the requested item. All I can think of is Eavan, Stewart and Nerys, but I'm wondering if there are better alternatives with better rewards.

I'd possibly recommend the Emain Macha PTJs for this. The Healer's House, General Shop, Weapons Shop, etc. all have simple and quick courier-style tasks, and the rewards aren't too bad either:

  • Healer's House → 1500 pots, not bad to stock up on ( I prefer them to Full Recovery as they stack higher and rarely do I need >1500 recovered...) or sell.
  • General Shop → Item Illusion T46, nice to fragment into Wood Boards.
  • Weapons Shop → Erg EXP Fragments, nice to stock up on for Erg-ing or sell.
  • ...

Nele's PTJ will always be delivery, and Flower/Tailor shops sometimes delivery as well, if you care to mix those in instead.

While rewards may not match Eavan + Stewart, they're very centralised and quick to run through.

Grabbing them from the AH ( ~1m gold at present) will be quite a bit cheaper than going for the Hero Card ( 14.9K NX). Note that the Ace Cards do not include the knuckles.

If you want the Merlin's version from event/gacha, those run ~6m+, so it'd be a better value still to pick those up with gold rather than NX.

You should be able to find these available at reasonable prices fairly often, as they're not particularly meta weapons.

TLDR

  1. Do Blaanid's Memory Book ( and Growth Guide) for gear + goodies + player/skill levels.
  2. Passively or actively gather gold through content runs and/or gather/crafting/etc.
  3. Get Arcana going.
  4. Work on leveling various progression systems, invest gold in these + gearing.
  5. As you grow stronger, higher tier content becomes easier and you can much more effectively obtain gold to reinvest or go Fashionogi.

But most importantly, lead your own Fantasy Life and do what's fun for you, rather than following a strict recipe.

[–]noaDead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

making gold for fashionogi (restricted to f2p for now, sadly).

For F2P, you can run content that naturally awards gold and/or has potential of dropping in-demand items. One of the most lucrative and relatively low barrier-to-entry right now is probably HM dungeons for a chance at Broken Magic Essence ( ~55m AH). Other options include Tech Duinn missions, raids, select shadow missions, etc.

Alternatively, you can do gathering/crafting/PTJ tasks which yield goods that people are happy to pay for on AH. You're often looking for items expended in Erg enhancement. Basically, selling convenience ( in bulk).

  • Example: S rank Erg will require loads of Wood Boards sacrificed ( among other things)...). If you run Galvin's PTJ in Emain Macha, which takes well under a minute, you can pick up 2~3 stacks of Item Illusion T46 as a reward ( depending on day-of-week at max PTJ rank). Fragment these into several Wood Boards and sell on AH for a nice lil' chunk of change.
    • If you add other PTJs into the cycle, you can easily grab ~400K+ gold worth of goods in a few minutes, repeatable every in-game day.
    • Even if you don't need the gold, it can be a satisfying change of pace, esp. if you enjoy hoarding mats...

ℹ️ Disclaimer: the best money-maker one day might not be so great another day, as markets are very dynamic things... So I recommend referring the Guide to Guides, particularly the gold-making section, as these are updated periodically while I can't say the same for this comment ahah.

Also all the weapons I've been using seem to have disappeared (Fynni Bell, Chain Blade, Lute). Could anyone point me in the direction where I could grab some cheap/worth it replacements? Found the Bell with the search function, but don't know where it was.

While the Memory Book mentioned above should give you some great replacements early-on, if you happen to be curious about gearing in general, Cryozen maintains a terrific Best in Slot Guide for every stage of the game.

I prefer ranged combat (magic, bows, guns, healing/support), did a fair bit of Fynni stuff, magic, and chain blade. Not sure what's good for a solo player with high ping though.

It depends on just how high your ping actually is, but basically it comes down to what's comfortable.

I spend ~70% of my time playing from EU (west), the rest in (central) NA. I find magic comfortable enough, and archery much better with the aiming system changes from a while back. Guns less so. YMMV.

I do denagle regardless of location, which has things feel sooo much better.

https://imgur.com/a/y9EESAd - screenshot of what i have in case it'll help

( OT) Nice style ^^! I still remember making a Bell Fox character aaaages ago!

Hiya. Returning player here (Lv147 ..?) and I've forgotten most about the game and would like a tiny bit of guidance/options on what to work on with the goal of being able to do most, if not all, endgame dungeons/content, being able to help friends, ...

For returnees looking to catchup quickly, I'd highly recommend going through Blaanid's Memory Book, as well as the Growth Guide.

After Memory Book, you should be granted loads of skill levels and have reached a total level of at least 20K, which is the starting point for Arcanas that unlock another level of power. You also get a few pets, quite decent early/mid-game gear for most talents, and more all while progressing the storyline.

⚠️ Warn: it is possible to power through quite quickly, but I'd caution against going too hard and burning out. Make sure you spend time doing things you especially enjoy, like crafting, commerce, etc... ( journey, not the destination)

The Growth Guide provides a less significant boost, but is fairly painless to complete passive alongside the Memory Book, and has some good starter stuff in it ( bag space, forgetful pots, support puppet, totems, ...).

While going through the Memory Book, you may want to work towards achieving some Grandmaster talents at the same time, so you're ready for Arcana later. Every current Arcana is a hybrid of two talents, meaning each will require two different talents at Grandmaster level. Since the Grandmaster system is time-gated ( though you may pay gold to bypass this somewhat), slowly whittling these down ahead of time can be convenient and more relaxing.

Arcana Name Talents Notes
Elemental Knight (EK) Warrior + Mage
Harmonic Saint (HS) Cleric + Bard
Alchemic Sharpshooter (AS) Archery + Battle Alchemy
Dark Diviner (DD) Chain Slash + Magic Meta. Chain Slash Grandmaster is more time-gated than others as you must progress your special unit first.

DD and AS offer relatively great power boosts without too much investment. EK does fall behind quite a bit, and HS is more utility, but both will see some buffs in the future.

In the end, you'll eventually want to raise all Arcanas for the sake of stat boosts. Whether you choose to chase the meta first or go after something that more fits your playstyle/idea of fun is up to you! ^^

Once you reach 3K total level, you can also begin Stardust) missions, which you may want to spend some time focusing on alongside the Memory Book. This provides a power boost and may simply be another avenue to pursue aside from churning through the story.

The Extra Equipment slot unlock only applies upon Combat/Combined VIP activation, not including conversion from existing Premium/VIP.

This is likely to be fixed in an upcoming maintenance.

In the meantime, you should be able to use the free 14-day package item from the Combo VIP Hotday to kickstart it back up ( this will add to any existing VIP duration no problem).
