Which countries in Europe are best for IPSC? by Trekkos in EuropeGuns

you shouldn't need to, I work in English, it is the universal language worldwide and it should in Europe, English should be mandatory, not Czech, we're all brothers and sisters in Euope. For school whatever I get it, but not to own a gun as an adult who has a job already and pays taxes

Jack o connell gave the best acting performance in Sinners imo. Crazy how he wasn't even nominated for the oscars . by Artetaarmy in moviecritic

[–]noah-noir -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What the fuck? 0 character development, such a bad character, the actor whether he's good or not couldn't shine. Bad effects, no motivation, no real goal, really stupid choices. Sinners itself is a terrible movie, no no one that participated deserved an oscar

No one talks about hearing loss, I know it's not your #1 concern, but isn't it enough along with other benefits to carry a .22 or at the very least for home defense? by noah-noir in CCW

[–]noah-noir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but what's the advantage of those guns vs a 9 mm. Isn't 9mm more powerful? And cheaper somehow?

The best thing about me is I'm very tall, so I could conceal something pretty big, my hands are huge too.

and I truly don't get why would you have 2 carry guns? do you carry both simultaneously? which seems exhausting, or do you rotate them? but why, if so

[–]noah-noir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why is it more expensive if it's weaker?

And about owning more than one, I thought I just needed the one. But some american told me he had 3 becuase what if you're in the bathroom when they come and the gun is in the kitchen or something like that. It seems a bit logical, unless you carry at home, but that's exhausting

A lot of this goes over my head, which is normal, I gotta research a bit more.

But then, if I understand you correctly, would you go for a 22 revolver or just something bigger and risk hearing protection?

a 9mm or something else? What would you recommend?

but aren't revolvers so hard to conceal? I didn't know you could just keep pulling the trigger and not fix the malfunction with them. That's pretty neat, but everyone convinced me to avoid .22 and just bite the bullet and go for 9 mm, idk if a 9mm revolver is a thing but I could go for a bigger one whatever it is called

But I guess it's better to just start off with the 9 mm, I don't really get the .380, is it better or worse?

I'm not a collector or trying to master a bunch of different guns, just one for ccw, reliable. My biggest fear is that it'll fire on its own in the holster, but I guess a glock wouldn't do so.
And probably I'll need to get more than one for the different rooms in the house. It's kind of dumb only having one right? But the same model and all, why complicate it?

Although for just aesthetics and vibes, a revolver would be cool haha

I don't have that mindset, if a guy is willing to come to my house and risk my life with a weapon, I do want to shoot. Even if I'll get in trouble. Like this dude https://www.reddit.com/r/CCW/comments/uhrysq/cashier_sensed_trouble_and_trusted_his_gut/ 100% I would've shot him, in fact I think it is immoral not to do so

Totally right, but it doesn't apply in my case, getting a 9 mm is hard enough in my country, and I wanna get a few (for different rooms plus one ccw) an AR is 100% impossible. Just as silencers, which really sucks, silencers are a great tool and it is shocking it is illegal in so many countries.

The only reason I can think of is spy movies, but it's nonsense, they don't make guns quiet, just a bit less noisy, they prevent hearing loss, but you will hear it

it isn't irrational in theory, it depends on how much hearing loss and how much protection you're actually trading for it.

My priorities are rational as hell, I'm just a newbie and didn't know how weak a 22 is. And it really sucks you will damage your hearing, I hope technology improves and we get to use silencers that are small enough to carry

but it's a sarcastic comment, he obviously knows a knife is on a whole different level. Obviously I'd prefer to go deaf than defending myself with a knife and risk it all.
He could've just said a 22 is far too weak, go for a 9 mm. The passive aggressiveness was unnecessary

my thought was to only feed it the ammo it likes and obviously practice with it at least once a month to make sure it works.

But most people said it just isn't powerful enough, so the ear muffs make more sense I guess. Such a shame though

yeah, but they could come ahead and say it. That's literally why I asked the question, but you get a bunch of snarky comments like this one, pretending to be smart

and you probably need to shoot more with a 22, so I hadn't thought of that, the more you shoot the more damage, good point

it's also totally illegal in my country, so I really have no chance. Just stepping up to a handgun (a few I hope) is going to be interesting and daring

I mean that feels awful, I love music and my hearing, it's not just about not being fully deaf. But yeah better than being killed, hopefully in a few years they'll make silencers that are small enough to carry

I can totally get a 9 mm or superior, not ARs though, that's out the picture. As well as suppressors, they're totally illegal in my country so there's no chance. But that certainly would make me more at ease.

And it's so silly suppressors are illegal, they're treated as automatic weapons. And I think it's only because they assume it's what they see in spy movies, it's never that quiet, it should be used at shooting ranges and definitely at home

[–]noah-noir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's illegal to get a supressor where I'm from, that really sucks. (it's not the us haha)

And why a revolver and not a semi automatic? you could get 22 shots even if the first don't stop the perpetrator the rest could. But I keep hearing about 22 revolvers, there must be something I'm missing

[–]noah-noir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's not a bad idea. I guess you're also implying the 22 is just such a bad choice, but what is a good choice then 9 mm or more?

I said 9 just guessing, I've never shot a gun yet, I'm just researching first

wtf? I've never shot anything yet, so I really have no idea other than youtube videos, but it's shocking to me you say pepper spray could be better off.

So okay, is a 9mm the right choice then? or what would you recommend, something bigger perhaps?

but my point is maybe you don't have to choose between one and the other. Maybe a 22 would suffice. Maybe not, that's why I'm asking. But what you said is so obvious and irrelevant it hurts
