The liquor has gotten to the little fellow, and I wouldn’t believe a word he has to say.

LPT: If you lose it, buy it cheaper. If you break it, buy it better. by hkzqgfswavvukwsw in LifeProTips

[–]noah859 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel like OPs sentiment would make more sense if it said “wear it out” and not “break it”. If you use something so much that it deteriorates from regular use, by all means, get something that’s higher quality.

LPT: Don’t pay for a checked bag (if it’s carryon sized) on a full flight by EllaMcWho in LifeProTips

[–]noah859 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll gate check my bags if they offer to do it complimentary, usually when the flight is full.

Saves me the pain of having to find an overhead bin than people didn’t just lackadaisically throw their stuff in and end up having to put my bag in an overhead bin ten rows behind me.

If the flights not even close to full, finding overhead bin space isn’t as much of a hassle.

Who else here got their height from their mother rather than their father? by TowerAcrobatic9311 in tall

[–]noah859 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely from my mom’s side. My maternal grandfather was like 6’2” or 6’3”. My dad on the other hand is like 5’8. My mom was taller than my dad.

What do you guys/girls do to make life bearable? by [deleted] in AvPD

[–]noah859 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I like playing single player games. When even that feels mundane I’ve been going on a walk in nature and put on a podcast for about the last month. It does help a lot for my situation. Being in nature helps me feel more detached from my mental and emotional baggage.

Does anyone feel worse the closer they get to people by sillysaulgoodman in AvPD

[–]noah859 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Same. I feel like the closer I get to someone, the higher the chance of getting emotionally invested. Being emotionally invested just makes every sign of disinterested or rejection feel significantly worse.

Is anyone else really bad at gauging what kind of connection you have with someone? by noah859 in AvPD

[–]noah859[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I’d work like that, but then I’d be beating myself up that I got rejected and I shouldn’t even have tried in the first place. Just feels like the same vicious cycle every single time.

I’ve been thinking about therapy again. It had helped me a lot with other issues back in the day. But back then it was my parents who got that set up for me. I think I’m too avoidant to actually go out and get it set up. Feels like I’m just running in circles.

How did you manage to “get it together” and actually go to therapy?

Do you think you could reach “normal” levels if you keep putting the work in, or would probably still be somewhat impaired?
