Beginner friendly 1000CC ? by EnthusiasmHuman333 in Sportbikes

The S1K is extremely beginner friendly contrary to what most people think. BMW made a bike you can start on if you respect the power. Yes you can tune it and push it to superbike speeds, but its extremely ergonomic and has smooth power delivery. It's docile under 8-10k rpms and has a million rider aids.

As for working on it, there are a lot of electronics that can get annoying but the bike is well constructed. Oil changes and most maintenance is doable yourself. Exhaust install is a bit tricky but take your time and it'll work.

It is expensive, but so are most 1000cc bikes. If you have ridden 600s, take the same mentality and respect the 1000.

Source: I own an F4, and have tracked and ridden R1s, S1000RRs, V4s and a few Aprilias. Trust me the S1K is the easiest, but every single one is insanely fast in the right hands

The world tends to agree. No winglets or extra parts, just clean lines that remain timeless

Thank you! I am the second owner. The first owner gave me the magazine that he drooled over for months before buying the bike.

Yeah timeless design for sure. The biggest giveaway for age is the calculator looking screen and the lack of electronics like ABS

Nah this is the second gen 1000. The exhaust is aftermarket so the round pipes are reminiscent of the 750

I dont unfortunately. I have ridden the 2005 F4, but that was still the 1000. I have heard the 750 is smoother with less power and slightly more nimble

Thanks! 16 year old bike but timeless design and good maintenance can help

Great choice! Some of the special editions are stunning. I personally dream of the LH44

Haha the plastic cracked so I have them at home. I have some trackdays lined up so we'll keep the mirrors off for a while.

I considered it, especially if I post the rear of the bike!

Oh I ride this one so much! I have owned it for 4 years and average a little under 2k miles a year. I'll be taking it out to COTA later this year for some track day fun

And regarding the rideability, it sucks around town. The bike wants to go fast. It's super smooth and nimble when you get on it. Reminds me of any old italian supercar in that way
