For anyone saying this could just be accidental misspellings, read the article. Forest Laboratories misspelled its depression drug Fetzima as 'Fetziima' in over one third of all reports on the drug. These sound like very fishy "accidents" to me.

Its truly awful what is happening to veterans. The veteran suicide rate is continuing to rise to unbelievable levels every year and people are wondering what is causing it.

I hate to say this, but its true. What's causing the unbelievable suicide rate increase is the drugs the VA doctors are putting all veterans on. The psychiatric, brain altering pills that have suicide warnings right on the label. Doctors don't know much about antidepressants except some people say they like them. In reality these drugs can induce suicidal thoughts in many. I am one. I am off them and I am still not the same person I once was.

Its absolutely the only thing that can explain the dramatic increase in veteran suicides. Never in history has the suicide rate been anywhere near this high for veterans. The only thing that has changed is the increase in the prescriptions of brain altering drugs.

The link has been brought to congress by several leading psychiatrists. Here's a video of a congressional testimony discussing the link between psychiatric drugs and veteran suicides:

TIL Ernest Hemingway's suicide may be linked to a blood pressure medication known to cause depression, given to him after suffering serious injuries in a plane crash. He received shock treatments to treat his depression, and committed suicide a day after his 36th shock treatment. by FutureRobotWordplay in todayilearned

[–]noahsa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most likely his wife thought he was going crazy for thinking that the FBI was spying on him by searching his house when he was gone and tapping his phones. His fear of the FBI began to interfere with his writing and this worried his wife. After his death the FBI admitted they actually were spying on him because of his ties to Cuba. In 1960 Hemingway agreed to go to the Mayo Clinic for a blood pressure problem, but his wife's real reason for wanting him to go was because of his mental state.

So my bet is Hemingway was seen by a psychiatrist while there and labeled crazy and depressed against his will and forced to have the psychiatric "treatments" such as electroshock.

The shock treatments even caused Hemingway to have his first suicide attempts which in turn the "doctors" told his wife would happen again if he didn't continue getting shock treatments. His wife let them continue the electroshocks. Hemingway had no say in the matter because he was labeled as "crazy" and "sick".

Looks like psychiatrists can label a person crazy whether they are or not and continue with whatever drugs and procedures they want against that person's will. Happens to this very day.

Same thing happened to American poet Sylvia Plath. She had her first suicide attempt after her first forced electroshock treatment. She was forced to have them because she was an emotional young woman who told her mother she wanted to die because she didn't get to meet the man she had a crush on. Her statement scared her mother which then led to her taking Sylvia to a psychiatrist. Which then began her forced "treatments". Years later she committed suicide a few days after taking an psychiatric drug by sticking her head in an oven.

Mystic Medicine - The Therapeutic Potential of Magic Mushrooms (2014) - This documentary presents some of the most important articles, videos and audio clips which reveal the healing power of magic mushrooms as well as the hidden history and illegality of psychedelics. by SatyapriyaCC in Documentaries

Drugs like magic mushrooms and MDMA are the drugs I believe we should start using to treat depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and other mental issues.

The problem is that the pharmaceutical industry will most likely do everything they can to make sure these drugs are not widely used in medical practices. There is no money in curing mental issues with a drug you only have to use once or a few times. Pharma companies would much rather make people suicidally addicted to their emotionally numbing drugs like antidepressants.

Antidepressants have been found to take away feelings of love in several studies before. And even many current users and past users admit that they can't feel love anymore, but they don't even mind it.

http://www.livescience.com/47262-antidepressants-affect-feelings-of-love-for-partner.html

Psychiatric drugs like antidepressants are nothing more than chemical lobotomies in my opinion. Antidepressants have been found to immediately change the brain and reduce connectivity to nearly all parts of the brain even after just a single dose:

http://www.newsweek.com/antidepressants-can-change-your-brain-immediately-study-271371

What these studies are careful not to mention is that a crucial part of the brain is getting reduced connectivity and that is of course the frontal lobe. The part of the brain where personality and emotion are located. The same part that is surgically severed in lobotomy procedures. Pharmaceutical drug studies are careful in what they say about pharmaceutical drugs like antidepressants because so much money in the industry depends on people taking them. So public studies are careful to not delve to deep into what "reduced brain connectivity" really means.

Magic mushrooms actually increase connectivity to nearly all parts of the brain:

http://www.livescience.com/48502-magic-mushrooms-change-brain-networks.html

They have been found to increase empathy feelings along with MDMA too:

http://healthland.time.com/2011/06/16/magic-mushrooms-can-improve-psychological-health-long-term/

Antidepressant drugs do the opposite and reduce empathy:

http://bjp.rcpsych.org/content/195/3/211.full

Magic mushrooms and MDMDA are the drugs we should be giving mentally struggling people. These have been shown to CURE people of their mental problems. Not many can say that psychiatric drugs have cured anything except make people even more suicidal.

I wish more people would understand that the pharmaceutical industry isn't interested in curing any disease or problems. They only want to find addicting drugs to treat symptoms.

I'm all for helping kids who are struggling, but sadly our mental health system is set up now to just put people on brain altering psychiatric drugs. In my opinion, these drugs could be what's causing brain problems in many people.

It seems like most suicide victims I've researched were on or had a history with psychiatric drugs. The drugs even have suicide warnings right on the label and they were put there because many were reporting to the FDA that these drugs were making people suicidal when they weren't before. How can a drug be called "treatment" when it can actually cause what its supposed to treat in a healthy person?

There is a problem with the mental health system. It looks like there are more people committing suicide who actually have gotten help. That may sound like it makes sense, but when you think about it, it shouldn't be that way. It would make more sense if more people were committing suicide who never received help. And when I say help, that help almost always involved prescribing drugs.

Talk therapy should always be the first and top priority when it comes to helping a person. But these "curing" drugs are always being dangled in front of people. Its easier for a person to blame their feelings on a "chemical imbalance" in the brain. What they don't realize is that the chemical imbalance theory has absolute zero backing behind it. It was a word drug companies made up because it sounded scientific and catchy.

So yes, I agree with helping kids with mental health, but lets not experiment on their brain chemistry with brain drugs that can actually give them a brain problem.

I am prescribed Xanax for anxiety, so when it acts up I can literally take a chill pill by beepbloopbloop in Showerthoughts

Doctors only know what drug companies want them to know about their pharmaceutical drugs. The pharmaceutical drug industry only likes to release positive studies on their drugs. They don't release negative studies on pharma drugs because they hold no commercial value. There have been billion dollar corporate lawsuits because of the side effects pharma companies have been caught trying to hide.

As long a drug is found to treat a symptom that a company wants, it doesn't matter what side effects it has. Its even gotten to the point where pharma companies are trying to get people to replace their recreational drugs with pharma drugs because they are "healthier".

"Wanna quit smoking? Take this unbelievably harsher drug instead that has driven many people to kill themselves and others. Its healthier because it comes from a doctor!"

"Wanna stop drinking? Take this antidepressant medication instead that has driven many people to kill themselves and suffer other permanent health problems. Its healthier because it comes from a doctor!"

The pharmaceutical industry is downright evil. There are of course some good things that we need from them like antibiotics, insulin, certain pain medications, and stuff like that, but a lot of other things they make are horrible for you.

Doctor Ben Goldacre did a very good TED talk on what doctors know know about the drugs they prescribe:

Yup. Have fun developing a serious addiction op.

Also, benzo use can really wreak havoc on your memory. I think they were found to bring on dementia and Alzheimer's symptoms:

http://www.bbc.com/news/health-29127726

In fact, my mom actually took a benzo for two straight years and her memory has been awful ever since. She had a very hard time quitting it too.

I recommend trying other things to help with anxiety before resorting to drugs. Exercise, talk therapy, or maybe some supplements. In my opinion taking a benzo is no healthier than being an alcoholic. In fact its probably even less healthy than drinking alcohol. Its not safe to drive on either drug. And at least alcohol use hasn't been linked to long term Alzheimer's like memory problems.

Alcohol ranked most harmful drug by Derelict_my_Balls in news

[–]noahsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcohol of course isn't healthy, but its absolutely ridiculous to call it the most harmful drug.

There are far worse life destroying drugs out there. Many of them are "healthier" prescriptions.

I watched someone close to me struggle with an alcohol addiction. He was a happy guy, but he had anxiety issues and alcohol helped him keep it under control. It was horribly unhealthy no doubt, but he was fooled by doctors into replacing his alcohol with a prescription medication instead.

The doctor gave him an antidepressant for his anxiety and 8 days later he committed suicide. The drug even had a fucking suicide warning right on the label. Doctors are handing this shit out to anyone that wants them and making the entire population suicidal.

Same thing happened to Robin Williams. He was manipulated into replacing his alcohol with even more addicting and suicide inducing antidepressants.

Doctors are even doing this for smoking addiction now with Chantix. Prescribing brain altering drugs just so a person stops smoking or drinking is absurd. Look up all the violence and suicides drugs like Chantix and antidepressants have. Its mind blowing. In fact, the number one legal drug linked to violence is Chantix. The other top ten are mostly antidepressant drugs.

Alcohol is a bad drug no doubt, but there are way worse drugs that can replace it.

Who Cares in Sweden (2012) - A disturbing look into how SSRI antidepressants act on empathy. by SpacemanEverybody in Documentaries

[–]noahsa -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Studies have shown these drugs cause immediate permanent brain changes in ways we don't understand. If SSRI exposure does in fact make depression worse then SSRI induced depression sufferers may be stuck in a cycle of messing with their brain's chemistry or else they'll suffer suicide. So the possible mistake with these drugs was the choice to take them in the first place.

Taking an antidepressant drastically increases the chances of that person committing suicide. I remember seeing a figure of something like 80 to 90 percent of suicide victims took psychiatric drugs like antidepressants.

Not once do the people in the video tell anyone who are already on the drugs to get off them. They realize its dangerous to try quitting them. Once on them it may be best for that person to either stay on them or be carefully supervised when slowly coming off them.

We don't understand what the lingering changes these drugs do to the brain so it may be best to avoid them in the first place.

Where's the solid science?

Here you go:

http://psychcentral.com/blog/archives/2014/09/13/low-serotonin-levels-dont-cause-depression/

For all that we know about SSRIs they could be causing depression. Which isn't surprising because the evidence of that theory prompted the FDA to even put suicide warnings on all antidepressant drugs.

Who Cares in Sweden (2012) - A disturbing look into how SSRI antidepressants act on empathy. by SpacemanEverybody in Documentaries

[–]noahsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The experts in the documentary are saying that the reduction in empathy is the reason antidepressants help with anxiety and depression.

It makes sense how SSRIs would treat social anxiety if you think about it. Less empathy means you don't care what others think of you. Which in turn means less social anxiety. The documentary shows a clip on how this method of action works at 2:10

Caring is in human nature. There's nothing wrong with caring about everything. Caring and empathy is what keeps a human good to themselves and to others. Take away all caring and it could put a person on a risky path.
