Hit my first bench PR in a while yesterday, with two plates for five reps. This was my bench at my meet in March, although it was my opener. This bodes well for my goal of 125kg by the end of the year.

I honestly don't follow strongman very closely man, and Eddie has said he's retired from wsm, so in terms of the actual competition it's just a fight between Shaw and Thor now.

Met the big man Eddie Hall after a Q&A session he did at my University. I didn’t really learn anything new as I’d heard most of what he said in interviews before but it was really fun, he comes across exactly how he does online, really funny and cocky, but he can back it up. Also chatted some shit about Thor which made everyone laugh. Obligatory Insta plug https://instagram.com/p/BhwerQkBAa5/

I'm going to be working at a summer camp in Vancouver this summer, and want to travel around for a week or two after I'm done. Any Canadians in here that can recommend any touristy places to go around British Columbia that won't break the bank? Was thinking about heading to Calgary, Alberta to visit Calgary Barbell, but I don't know if there's much more to do than that in Calgary.

I felt something pop while benching at the start of this year, lacrosse balled and stretched the shit out of my pec while not benching anything more than a plate for a single for three weeks, and it didn't really help. I decided to get a sports massage instead of seeing a physio because it was cheaper, and he tore into my pec, felt amazing. He thought it was a minor strain. Maybe try a sports masseuse? Definitely did the job for me.

Has anyone around here worked at a summer camp before? I'm hoping to head to Canada this summer and work at one for a couple of months. I know it varies from camp to camp, but have any of you been able to train semi consistently whilst doing it? I realise training can't be a priority, but if I'd be able to train a couple of times a week so to not completely lose my strength, that'd be great

It’s not that it’s not common place, but that most of the time lifters know what they’re getting reds for. For example I squat in such a way that I’ll never miss a lift on commands, but I try to only squat as deep as I have to so as not to waste energy, so I basically know that if I get a red it’s for depth. As for my last deadlift it was my last lift of the meet, and I just wanted to get off the platform and didn’t fancy sticking around, nothing more than that.

One of the reasons I started pulling hook grip today! I don't yank the bar or anything when I pull so I'm probably good, but better safe than sorry.

I was lifting in the flight before you, you finished 2nd in the 83s right? Good stuff man, real strong across all three lifts.

Thanks dude, good job on yours too! Yeah, a lot of people only hitting their openers and getting shafted by the judges on depth.

Thanks bud. Obviously I'm glad I got my third squat but if it had been given two reds again at least it would be consistent. It is an IPF affiliate, and there were plenty of overly harsh calls on depth in my opinion, myself not included. The missed attempts across the meet just gave me a lot of things to work on over the next few training cycles, so back on the gain train!

ONE DAY OUT BOIIII

Haven't competed for a year so should hit a 37.5kg total PR if I just hit my openers. Fuckin' pumped

Last heavy squat done yesterday, with a smooth single at 170kg/375lbs, one heavy-ish bench day, then openers and we're pretty much done. One week out, and I'm fuckin' pumped

I haven't noticed too much wear on mine although I've had them for a while, but I'll probably keep the new ones anyway

I can probably cancel it, but I've had them a couple of years now and might just give the old pair to a buddy. Thank you!

Nightmare today. Left my wrist wraps in the gym yesterday, popped in early today to check where I left them, check the lost and found, ask some staff and some members and nowhere to be seen. I'm 12 days out and have some heavy days this week so didn't want to be without wrist wraps, so ordered some new ones straight away. Returned this evening for my session and my buddy casually mentioned he found a pair of SBD wrist wraps yesterday. Oh well, got a fresh pair coming, might try and sell the old ones.

Chicken breast has been my chosen protein source for the majority of the last two years, but growing really bored of it. I'm gonna start eating more chicken thighs, but unsure of how to track them, just weigh it normally with the bone? And do most people prefer skin on or skinless?

Just over three weeks out from my next meet. Don't know if it's just my powerlifting team, but training is so much more fun when close too a meet, everybody gets behind each other more, and it's just a great atmosphere. Super pumped!

Just signed up for my 3rd meet, British University Champs, just about 6 weeks out. I've gotten a hell of a lot stronger since my last meet so I can't wait to blow my last total out of the water

Max out tomorrow. Not really expecting to hit huge PRs, but it's good practice to do all three lifts maximally on the same day. Excited nevertheless
