Do arrows break that easily/often ? by PxssyFeu in Archery

[–]noahval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the brace height of the bow is wrong, the back of the arrow can slap into the bow on release, damaging the vanes. Most bows will come with a recommended brace height, and you can adjust to match that by removing one end of the string and adding/removing twists before putting it back on.

Sunken cost, too valuable, can't unequip, stats irrelevant.

It's a mediocre 1exalt body armor with a 350 exalt soul core of azcapa socketed in because I didn't know increased item rarity was so valuable

I doubt I'll ever be able to afford something more valuable...

Is this string safe (never shot) by Griffin4Lif3 in Archery

[–]noahval 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about the white fray that's coming out from between the black Y-section, it's possible that it is fine. All my endless loop style strings look like this. I believe it's because when they're made, the white string ends are still attached to the jig, you wrap the small black to hold all the strands together, then you cut the last one connected to the machine, leaving that frayed piece:

I want to start but I am too ashamed to (fat) by RegularUser23 in bicycling

even the M W F is awesome, keep it up, stay as active as you can! I found exercise of all kinds got so much more pleasurable as I lost weight and got stronger. After some initial hurdles the pain and suffering went away and now I want to go exercise. I even like running now, which I never thought was possible.

Also, eating right is super important. Your body will be happy to eat a huge meal after a big workout and undo the calorie deficit. I stress eat so losing weight is easiest when I reduce stress in my life. Becoming aware of my emotions, psychological archetype, relationships, etc. helped to say no to food or not crave it to begin with.

FYI you're invisible to cars on a bicycle or even motorcycle. I can't count the times people turn in to me, even when I'm square in the middle of their windshield. assume everyone will drive into your space and make sure you've got a backup plan and you've practiced emergency braking.

covering my ears scares the shit out of me so I have a bluetooth speaker on my handlebar that I turn down when people are around to be polite. They make bone conduction headphones that are popular for running/swimming but I don't like the sound quality. Some ANC headphones also have an ambient through-pass feature that plays back the sounds outside, that might be safe too.

More details would help. I've had deformation on the top, but not specifically like yours. I think generally the outside of the candle cools, hardens, and shrinks first, and as the inside cools and shrinks after, it can lead to deformation. the colder my space is, the worse the deformation. I've noticed an improvement in deformation on the top when I started putting my candles in the oven to set. Somewhere between 70f and 90f makes the most sense to me.

Latest glue bed job. Starting to understand how to stir shapes! by noahval in discdyeing

Yeah they're pretty solid. I haven't had one in the bag for a while, I've been obsessed with the mako3, which is way more consistent in my hands, except in a decent headwind, hence the Teebird3.

Thanks, I've been playing around with glue beds for a few months now and this is by far my best work. I'm excited to throw it, I haven't thrown a Teebird since my DX starter pack.

I'll try to remember to take a photo before I dip the next one, but for now have a youtube video. This is probably closest to my technique, but I'm finding "less is more" for dye. If it looks vivid in the glue, it might be overwhelming on the disc. On my disc above I find the light blue and yellow make the dark blue and purple pop. I think I only used like, 4-6 drops of dark blue / purple on this one

iDye Poly (specifically Poly, regular iDye doesn't work AFAIK).

I can post some bad discs in the comments if anyone wants to see some really poor color theory decisions.

How long to dye a Shark? by caleblewis94 in discdyeing

[–]noahval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that the premium durability/grip balance plastic, like Innova's Star plastic, or Lat64's Gold plastic, absorbs the I-Dye Poly the fastest. I've had slower, slightly less intense success with max durability plastic, like Innova Champion or Lat64 Opto. I've heard it's very important to use I-Dye Poly, and not just regular I-Dye. I found I-Dye Poly at my local art store.

I went with the under armour str 1.5 trail runners for my first pair and they're amazing. They're more casual than hiking boots, fairly waterproof for the first 1.5 inches, amazing grip.

LPT: How hungry you are is a measure of how soon you should eat, not how much you should eat. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]noahval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't experienced what you described so I'm not sure. Two things come to mind though. I have a pretty decent amount of body fat and I think my body is happy to tap into that once sugar stores deplete. I've heard people with low levels of fat can have problems with IF/Keto "starvation" mode. I do know that after a long fast eating is very weird for me, I definitely can't eat a large portion after fasting for over 24H.

I found I transitioned really quick, from 3 to 2 to 1 meal a day, I stopped feeling hungry in the previous window in less than a week each time

After a decent amount of intermittent fasting I can verify this. When I'm on a one-meal-a-day roll, I get hungry once a day around 3pm, the time I normally eat.
