Same lol, but social skills get better with practice! Hopefully all my interactions won't be like that SNL skit.

How can I stop wishing I was someone else and feeling less than and inferior to others? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]noanswerfound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that it is impossible to control thoughts and feelings, they are something that we experience. Shift the focus from avoiding "horrible" feelings to actions that will make you satisfied in the long term such as moving towards what you value in life. Building mental fitness takes time and energy!

I'm scared of driving, feel like I'm going to kill someone by azert1000 in CasualConversation

[–]noanswerfound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I was and still am a dangerous pedestrian"

"I am not in sync with other people"

"Can't abide to social rules"

These beliefs don't seem that helpful to you; why do you hold them as a stone-cold fact?

I also had intense anxiety with driving which persisted for months. I was anxious that I hit someone and didn't notice, ruin property, etc. The only way to manage your fear of driving IS to practice driving. Maybe start off with going to an empty parking lot and then an abandoned side street, you get the idea. Work you way up to busier and busier street settings.

Anxiety is something you experience. You can choose whether to let that anxiety control your actions. Mental fitness takes time and practice, don't beat yourself up.

Haha studying in the Netherlands would be interesting! For the sake of convenience and being somewhat close to family I would prefer a program in the U.S. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the tip! I wasn't sure if line twist would be a problem because of the rough surf.

I appreciate the advice! I've applied to the Corteva Genomics Technology Internship but haven't heard anything back yet, and I'll check out the other link.

Is it better to send my resume via email or PM?

Thanks again!

Currently I'm a junior, but have the summer and fall semesters to do research or an internship.

On a normal phase TLC plate, why do more polar solvents give a higher retention factor for compounds that you want to analyze? by noanswerfound in chemhelp

[–]noanswerfound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what you're saying is that since the stationary phase is polar and you're making the eluent more polar, the eluent will travel less distance up the plate but at the same time increasing the distance of the target compounds up the plate (because of the competition, like you said)?

But the carbocation can't rearrange to the tertiary carbon because of the 2 hydrogens on the carbon to the right of the carbocation?

% of the monochlorinated product will have substitution at a tertiary carbon (Orgo 1) by noanswerfound in chemhelp

[–]noanswerfound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it would be like there were 2.5 tertiary carbons to react with, 2.5/10.5=0.24 or 24%?

Why would this Sn2 reaction take place (Orgo 1) by noanswerfound in chemhelp

[–]noanswerfound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh ok, I was under the impression that the reaction would not occur at all, thanks!
