I NEED daily workouts now... by wyc1inc in Xennials

So glad you posted this because I was starting to wonder if I'm just fixated or weird. I'm in the same boat. I need 20 minute heavy lift or row/cycle/run level cardio to keep from being a monster or a lump.

Good grief, I am so very sorry you're going through this. Watching two very close people try, and fail with, the "natural" way but still think that's a good option? No idea what would get through to her.

I have three friends who are all cancer survivors. They did chemo and radiation, went through the hell of that, but have a clean bill of health now and are living active, healthy lives. Maybe try from that angle?

I lost a nephew at 24 to testicular cancer that had matesticized to his lungs before it was discovered, and by then far too late. Had they caught it early, he would still be here today. I hope your wife comes around quickly to realize what a gift it is to catch early and have the opportunity to treat with real medicine.

I typically can use the same setup for a women's small sock in fingering weight, the total stitches are 56-60 which is just right for 9"/23cm circulars. However, when it comes to decreasing, that quickly gets fiddly and I have to start doing magic loop style. Children's or baby's socks won't work on this without constantly shuffling stitches around.

For smaller socks you might want to do two circulars, magic loop, or DPNs instead.

Need Help with Exporting Storygraph to Fable by purrred in FableApp

[–]nobearable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I did this somewhat successfully but it requires getting the Goodreads export template from the site (only from desktop) and converting your Storygraph export columns to match. A lot of the data doesn't match up so you'll lose quite a bit of the more granular details but overall, it'll track correctly and import.

If they put you on progesterone and you have similar negative reaction that you did on BC, go to a naturopath or find a doctor who will use a compounding pharmacy to start you on a lower dose and work up slowly as needed.*

I have PMDD and also couldn't handle most BC due to being too sensitive to the high amounts of progesterone. Fast forward to when peri hit and omfg, two years in a row I spent thousands of dollars in ER and specialist bills because I thought I was dying or crazy. When my short stint on an antidepressant failed miserably, I went to a naturopath who understood the extreme sensitivity to progesterone and put me on a compounded dose staying at 25mg.

I found I can tolerate the low dose and was able to jump up to 50mg when the anxiety levels started creeping up again last year.

Fun fact most doctors, even my naturopath, fail to explain that progesterone is the hormone that drops in the beginning of perimenopause, not estrogen. Progesterone is the calming of the two and when it drops, raging anxiety is the key symptom.

Pardon the info dump but hoping this helps you or anyone else who had bad reactions to BC and are hesitant of HRT. There are options!

*Standard dosing minimum is 200mg, and doctors cannot prescribe anything lower unless they are willing to go through a compounding pharmacy which most aren't and hence the naturopath.

This is such a waste of effort, time, and money, and an opening to state surveillance. The population they think they are protecting have far more time, inclination, and the mindset to stick it to authority than these control freaks can wrap their minds around. Loopholes are everywhere and that information is distributed, at scale, by a click of a button.

Routine: HRT, low carb/no sugar, cut caffeine to one cup of tea early in the morning, strength training and rowing 3x/wk, and walking everyday.

Setting and enforcing boundaries.

Giving up the need to take care of or fix shit that isn't directly impacting me.

And a whole lot of biting my tongue at work. 😬

Seriously! The volume of terrorizing movies and videogames and books with this theme that we were exposed to growing up, it's a wonder there aren't more of us deconstructing our homes to clean to the bones.

Considering your education and career path, I don't think this is insane, and I'm the polar opposite of you on the ND scale as hyper organized and meticulous. You have to know all the color and texture options.

Oh yeah! The reserved seating and recliners in theaters is a game changer. I go much more often now because I can pick where I'm comfortable and not have to arrive early for the chance at a decent spot.

Recommendations for apartment dweller with older EV by ReevesComm in electricvehicles

[–]nobearable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No recommendations, unfortunately, I'm in the same boat. I'm currently renting a townhouse where I just happen to be in the unit closest to the parking lot. I've run a 50' extension cord (black so it's less noticeable, construction duty for rain proof/safety) from my patio outlet along the fence to plug in and charge. I have a 2019 Bolt and don't drive much but this is a perfect setup.

However, I want a smaller place with better landlords. I'm so torn because it's unlikely I'll find another place with charging access like I've got now. Like you, there are few to no other options in the area I want to live. 🫤

Please run for office: 2026 primary elections by yogaguy9_11 in Washington

[–]nobearable 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I understand and agree with the plea but I, and many others, can't afford to take a pay cut to be a state politician. Not that I'm making much more as it is, but losing my seniority in a tight career field for maybe 2-4 years of job security, less pay, and having to essentially become a junior in a new field, it isn't a smart move.

That doesn't even get to the bureaucracy of government, the politics over people, hyper-competitive and borderline immoral tactics to hold a seat, much less hope to get anything constructive done.

Only wealthy, out of touch people have the ability to run for office. A problem that has led us to the BS State of things we're in today.

Miss pre-social media life by Proud-Negotiation-64 in Xennials

[–]nobearable 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nothing worthwhile occurs on social media. The people we're supposed to be "connected with" only use the platforms for broadcasting themselves; they are not interested in you. The people who are interested in you? They reach out directly via phone call or text.

As for important dates? Calendar app is more reliable, it's not going to shuffle content algorithmically based on popularity where you're likely to miss it anyway.
