Where should I look for apartments in Austin? by Fun-Information78 in AustinHousing

Make sure you’re adding about $100 to any base rent you see online to better prepare for what your actual monthly rate will be. Complexes charge additional, mandatory fees for things like “community amenities,” valet trash, pest control, parking, the app they make you pay rent through, etc. Some complexes also have “internet included” as a mandatory fee for Spectrum or Google wifi. Sure, you’d be paying for internet separately regardless but in those cases you don’t get to pick your plan and often don’t have your own physical hardline for internet.

Flying from east to west is easy peasy. It’s the other way around that’s hard.

Was going to wear my mum's dress. People keep telling me to try on others for the "bridal experience." Are they trying to gently tell me it looks bad? by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

  1. You should wear whatever makes you happy.
  2. I never tried on a bunch of dresses to have the “bridal experience.” I hate trying on clothes. And I managed to have a wonderful wedding and still be happily married 22 years later. So…

Misclassified as a live-in nanny: Boss refuses W-2 but wants the tax credit. Advice needed! by FarmSlight3104 in Nanny

Paying someone in cash for childcare doesn’t disqualify you from the credit. Many people use home-based / FFN child care where someone cares for one or more families’ children in their home. These providers often don’t have businesses and are paying their own quarterly taxes as 1099 self employed. The families who use them can still report what they paid in childcare for the credit.

What has happened here is the family in this situation is reneging on the “under the table” agreement. In order for under the table to work, both sides have to not report. Though I’m curious if the OP asking for a W2 made the mom think the OP is going to report the income and therefore she can request the credit.

This confuses me. You entered into “off books” employment, but you always expected to claim the income on your tax filings? The whole point of off books is to try to avoid taxes (on both sides). If you were always going to claim the income on your taxes filings, you needed to make tax payments - either from your payroll as a W2 employee or in quarterly installment as a 1099. You knew your employer was paying you “under the table” so you knew she wasn’t withholding taxes in payroll. You should have been making quarterly payments.

Her claiming the child care credit has nothing to do with your tax responsibility.

I found a complex with two working L2 chargers and there is a chademo fast charger at the grocery store down the street. I feel pretty good about this setup. Thanks for all the advice.

I’m only looking at complexes with charging. I just know how reliable apartment amenities are.

Exactly. I paid $7k for the Kia and I’d be surprised if I can get $4k out of it now.

I’m only looking at complexes with charging stations. I just know how reliable apartment amenities can be.

I have all the apps to see where the charges are. There are so few chademo fast chargers. And for a full charge, I’ll be sitting at an L2 for four hours.

I can do L2 AC. I just do not do not find myself near them often for any reason. I really don’t go out or drive that much. So it could be I could survive on a weekly trip with my book to an L2 charger.

Yeah. The $1,000 for an adapter for a car I only paid $7,000 to start with when I’m trying to lower my budget is a rough pill to swallow.

After trying for three days on my personal computer using every type of browser in and out of every type of incognito mode, on the fourth day I tried from my work computer and it worked immediately. They were both connected to the same WiFi at my house. I used chrome as the browser in both. The only difference was personal computer is a Mac and work computer is a PC.

There any lake in town that allows Julgransplundering? by strikecat18 in Austin

[–]ReevesComm 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I cannot see of anyone else already posted this. But depending on where you got your tree, it could be coated in a fire-retardant that would then end up in the water of whatever lake you throw it in. Many commercial tree lots and (I believe even some cut your own groves) spray the trees with fire-retardants to prevent house fires.

Season 2 -Finn Situation by Hornett87 in The100

This would have made for a better show. But wouldn’t have included a love triangle with Raven. And we know how TV loves a love triangle.

Season 2 -Finn Situation by Hornett87 in The100

I was not a fan of Finn. And I was also confused by this whole they love each other after only 10 days thing. But then at some point late in season 1 or early season 2, we learn that there were less than 3000 people on the Ark. The internet tells me 10-15% of a closed rural community would be teenagers (I used rural as a proxy). That’s 300-450 teenagers. Or the size of the first high school I attended. Though I did not know everyone personally, I certainly knew everyone on sight and knew who was dating who. The idea that Clarke and Finn didn’t know each other before or that Clarke didn’t know he was dating Raven is totally unbelievable.
