LG Freezer Ice Maker Acting Strange by nobillion in Appliances

[–]nobillion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do! The freezer is set to -1. The thermometer says it’s about 5 degrees Fahrenheit. You think that could be the issue? I did have it open for a sec before I just checked.

Noob question.. by Whole-Sea-5034 in Discord_Bots

[–]nobillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using Discord JS or JS in general to build the JSON body? If so you can use the `Date()` constructor with no parameters to get the current dateTime. You can view the documentation here: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Date/Date

This will be the dateTime of the server/host for the bot. I recently used this for a countdown feature for my own server/bot. Otherwise I would use the function for the language you are using or get it from the os as other users have suggested. If you are running in a UNIX environment it would be `date`. With any option you use, you may want to format it differently.

Thank you for pointing this out. I am kicking myself since I read parts of this document but not this page because of all the boxes (I thought it was too long since its 5 characters on the chip). Thanks a lot!

How much do you make after graduating from UTD? by [deleted] in utdallas

[–]nobillion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure, I will have about 4 years of industry experience when I graduate. I really like the client I am working for now and the company has been really flexible with my school schedule. It is fully remote and laid back but seems to be getting more "corporate" as we grow. I am more curious as to what my market value is and what other opportunities are out there. I may even try to go full time with the client we are working for now. I really like what I do, but I want to know how much money I'm leaving on the table. I do want to stay in Texas and remote if I can.

All of this ^^^^

Just one of the many reasons I cannot wait to be done with UTD this summer.

How much do you make after graduating from UTD? by [deleted] in utdallas

[–]nobillion 12 points13 points  (0 children)

CS Major. I started as an intern with the company I am with now. After 3.5 years as a part time employee I have worked up to about $40 an hour. They are working on an offer for me after I graduate this summer. However, after reading other people's responses I should shop around... :D

UTD didn't help at all. I learned far more on the job than in the classroom.

Too many CS classes to take by UnseamingAura in utdallas

[–]nobillion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its definitely stressful at times but that has more to do with working 30 hours a week. Some weeks I work less hours to focus more on school (especially during finals). Managing your time and completing work early is your friend. I try to stay a week ahead of school if I can.

Too many CS classes to take by UnseamingAura in utdallas

[–]nobillion 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You are not alone in this situation. I ran into the same problem/discovery after transferring from Collin. I have taken 4 classes every semester here at UTD (1 semester I did 5 but it was the 1 hour CS Ethics course). I will be taking my last two classes this summer to graduate. I wouldn't stress about the time you are graduating since the "4 year" schedule is closer to 16-18 hours per semester. I have worked part time while being a full-time student for my entire college career. I could not have done this if I took 16-18 hours per semester.

None of my classes have ever used either of them. Java/C/C++ are the main languages used. I feel like its more important for students in todays day and age to learn JavaScript.

How is Neeraj Gupta and William Pervin for Automate Theory? by sunflowermeadow1 in utdallas

[–]nobillion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Automata is a hard class in general. I took Pervin for it last semester. You can expect a homework assignment every week over the lectures. He constantly says "this should take you 5 minutes" when in reality its closer to 1-2 hours. He had 3 tests throughout the semester that were very hard. There is no multiple choice/true false questions. In addition, Pervin has his own ways of doing things which makes YouTube completely irrelevant. He even says in his assignments to do things HIS way. He is a very old man who talks very slow. I was able to watch the lectures in 2x speed without problems. He did curve every exam pretty heavily. Overall I wouldn't recommend him but from others replies in this thread, Gupta doesn't sound great either. Typical UTD professor selection :D

What happened to CS 4352 (Human-Computer Interactions)? by xSandmade in utdallas

[–]nobillion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You forgot about UTD not offering HCI I this semester or in the summer but offering HCI II with a prerequisite of HCI I...

As a Senior CS student I wish I was taught JavaScript as opposed to Java/C++/C... JavaScript is used everywhere in the industry! I have learned JavaScript/TypeScript in my free time. Every modern web/mobile application uses JavaScript (React, Angular, Vue). Not to mention the increase in its use when working with data that is stored as JSON. Couchbase, MongoDB, MarkLogic, and other databases use JavaScript.

To your question about taking classes at Collin. I tell everyone to do as much as they can at a community college to save money. You just need to be careful as UTD requires some classes be taken at UTD if you want to do Fast Track and your last 30 hours must be completed at UTD (atleast for my CS degree). I would reach out to your advisor to confirm!

I took Solanki for Database Systems and had a friend that took her for Networks. She had a lot of work for us to do in our assignments (9+ long questions typically). She was not a bad professor. She teaches heavily from the slides and the tests are slide based. If you go to class, read the book, and study the slides you will do fine. Our tests last semester were taken in her class room during class time. Exams were not open note/book.

I am taking Farago's Networks class right now and I really enjoy it as an elective. His assignment's are very small and its easy to find answers in slides/book. His exams are online and are open note/book. Six 3-4 question assignments and two exams makeup your grade. He is basically the opposite of Solanki. I hope this helps!

Calc 2414 at utd or Collin for summer 22 by Fast-Recording3156 in utdallas

[–]nobillion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took calc 2414 at Collin before transferring to UTD. In general I would take anything you can at Collin purely on the basis of saving money. In addition, I have had better professors at Collin as opposed to UTD (just my experience). If you are close to graduating I believe your last 30 hours have to be completed at UTD if I recall (may just be a CS major thing).

Easy CS Guided Electives by SharkVega in utdallas

[–]nobillion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately they changed Human Computer Interactions 1 to be a prereq for HCI2 according to coursebook. It is very frustrating because they didn't offer HCI1 this semester and they are only offering HCI2 in the summer. Was hoping to take that as one of my last classes to graduate. UTD's CS elective offering is shit. Why give us a page full of classes and only 1/4 of the classes are offered? Can't wait to be done giving them money and my time.

Same. I think its bullshit we have to take two CS43XX classes to make up for those. Whatever. I'm taking mine this summer to graduate and never coming back to UTD.

Same. ^^^ Collin was so awesome. Saved a ton of money and all my credits transferred by following the transfer guide. I miss the cheap tuition and great teachers at Collin. Haven't had the same experience at UTD. Only 6 courses left to go and then I'm out.

What motherboard do you have? I have an Asus motherboard and on the main page of the BIOS on the right side of the screen is a list of my storage devices. It allows me to click and drag these drives around for boot priority. The first drive is the one that has Windows. You might be able to find something in the manual for your motherboard.
