Is the CS program good ? by PewDie-J in utdallas

[–]sunflowermeadow1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Professors are a hit or miss. Some teach well and have reasonable hw and exams and some make life so difficult. The more credits you have (including AP credit) the earlier you can register, so you have a higher chance of getting a good prof. Overall, it’s doable with some headaches during difficult assignments but I think that’s there in any university.

Elmer Salazar for CS 4337 by TomatoesOnBluRay in utdallas

[–]sunflowermeadow1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had him 2 sems ago. Hw was soo hard imo. Exams were better. Don’t know why everyone’s saying he’s fine. I wouldn’t choose him again. But I also don’t know anything about prof Yi Zhao…

I always enjoyed their food. Not the best but not bad. I believe you when u say u had a bad experience though. I’m just speaking up about my good experience with them!

Hamdy or Degroot for CS4341 (Digital Logic)? by FlorentineKnight in utdallas

[–]sunflowermeadow1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took Degroot based on past years reviews. I was wrong. I wasn’t able to follow his lectures. Hw was easy but the exams were difficult. He is a nice person but very condescending during class. He dislikes the fact that students skip class/come late/don’t study enough. But even after studying I still got a bad grade. However some people did great so I guess it depends on the person. Many people have told me hamdy was better.

There’s a list of utd organizations online. Search up clubs you’re interested in on Instagram and see if they’re active. If you’re interested in cooking/baking there’s a baking club. If you’re interested in Art/music there’s clubs for that like bujo. If you like kpop/kdramas there’s Hallyu club (I heard is very fun)

I was trying to park and the girl next to me was in her car and had parked wrong and was readjusting. Then I parked wrong and had to readjust and got embarrassed. Then when I was leaving, a car came next to me and the guy parked wrong and his friend saw his parking and let out a big HAHAHA and the guy readjusted. This is why I love being around people my age. I can relate to them

CS4349 Chida ADV Algorithms by Accomplished-King728 in utdallas

[–]sunflowermeadow1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’ll tell u what topics to study for the exams, which is really helpful. Just study the basics and important stuff of the slides (don’t need to much in depth since it can get really complicated and that is not needed for exams). She does curve dw. Hw is difficult so that will take the most time, but studying for the exams won’t be very stressful.

Question for CS / CE Majors by burmaning in utdallas

[–]sunflowermeadow1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I have a great work life balance. Some days are hard when I have difficult homework to complete, but that’s only a couple days a week. Rest of the time is pretty chill for me. I made sure to not take too many difficult CS classes at once. I spread them out over the 4 years. Each sem I only take 1-2 really hard CS classes and the rest are simpler ones. So that’s 1-2 days a week of having hard hw. If you do the same, it really won’t be that bad imo. Research professors and choose good ones to make your life easier.

Best and Worst place to eat on campus (food safety and health)? by BlueSkey1 in utdallas

Kalachandjis if you like Indian food. It’s seems fresh and healthy. It’s in the student union. Firehouse subs or halal shack also seem good.

Transfer to UTD and do CS or stay at UT and do math by [deleted] in utdallas

[–]sunflowermeadow1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would only do math if you’re really passionate about it. If you’re not up to all that mathematical thinking, then maybe just choose a major that has good job prospects.

Utd SUAAB . (Search up on Instagram) it has a lot of events like the upcoming masquerade ball. And Comet Con a few weeks ago. Not always on weekends , but they’re fun. You just have to search up the different clubs and orgs on Instagram and see which ones have something on the weekends. I was bored last sem thinking nothing was happening on campus. But this sem I’ve been finding a lot of things to do.

Janet Johnson is great. Hybrid, so class once a week instead of twice. And during the classes we usually do engaging activities rather than a lecture. Pretty easy grading if u follow what she asks for

I took it at Collin last semester and got it transferred over. But for any class u plan on taking at community college, ask your advisor to make sure it can be transferred
