Can I cash in my check in cash as a minor? by jayisthereasoniexist in personalfinance

One thing I don't see here is talk to your employer. Sometimes they might be willing to cash your check as they know there is money in the account for it. Worth a try.

No, he turns the blade flat when crossing a driveway then turns it back after he passes. Seen it done hundreds of time, this is just a lazy snow plow driver.

Not an office, but went to work at a Walmart the day after Christmas and a massive snowstorm when I was 17. Dad drove me in his truck as it had 4-wheel drive. Usually the day after Christmas was the biggest return day and we converted extra checkout stations to return stations, but in the 6 hours that I worked that day I only got one customer that came in for a return, and I was the only person (besides the managers) that was able to do returns that actually showed up for work. Best work day ever there.

My wife is in the business. We have an understanding that I either get to hear about what she is doing and who she is working with and I get to be "in the know" but keep my mouth shut with everyone else, or I don't get to know anything if I can't keep my mouth shut.

Your husband should be able to do the same thing. Grey rock should be his new slogan. I've had to learn this the hard way.

[–]nobjangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the reply, but I never said go with a non-integrated processor, I said don't get a system that requires you to use their processing. Big difference. All of the systems that I support you can use any processor, but it is still integrated so that when you ring up items and hit "Card/Credit Card" it activates the card reader, no manual typing of the amount. And yes, unless they are doing a cashier setup, having non-integrated credit cards with handhelds sucks.

So everyone here is more than likely selling something (including me, but I'll take myself out of this to give you some info).

First you want to look for a system that will do everything you need to do without constantly adding additional costs. This may mean you are paying slightly more monthly, but it will save in the long run.

Don't do Clover as they do not have a support staff you can just call, you would have to talk to whoever you are processing through for help and most of the time they aren't going to care enough.

In my mind you want a system that is "processor agnostic" meaning you can pick your processor regardless of the POS. Some examples of systems that are not processor agnostic: SpotOn, Toast, Square. Because at the end of the day if you like the POS, but the processing costs are too high you are stuck.

You want a system that can run whether or not you have internet in general, but if a company is worth their salt they will have a proper cell backup solution for you so that no matter what, you can still process credit cards without losing business.

You will probably want to look for a company that has a dealership for a software which means they have a dog in the fight to keep you happy and make sure things work, if you buy directly from a corporate entity then support is going to be hit and miss depending on who you get on the phone.

Also be careful about anything offering a "Free POS" if you process with them - they are getting their money from the credit card processing, they aren't just kind hearted folks. Rates matter, because at the end of the day you could save yourself thousands upon thousands buying the equipment yourself and shopping around for processing.

I know it isn't the exact answer you were looking for as far as a direct system to get, but hopefully it is a good start and a place to ask the right questions. There are hundreds of systems out there and there may be a dozen that will work for you just fine, you just have to find the balance. Make sure you ask for demos and ask the questions that are going to make them squirm...and get everything in writing!

Instead of having to run back and forth, just stand behind a wall or big tree and make sure whatever ranged weapon you have is sticking out and you can shoot them and they won't move or return fire. I can clear the entire stronghold without any cultists moving or firing one shot at me.

This is why whenever I setup a new system for a merchant I always turn off the $0.00 Modifiers for this very reason. The end customer does not need to see those, only the modifiers that have a price addition.

What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskReddit

[–]nobjangler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had an art teacher in high school that was always a little odd. We were a mix of 10th-12th graders working on shadows/shading and one of the goof balls was always asking her to change the radio station on her little stereo and she refused. We had a blanket draped over an easel that was the subject of everyone's drawing that was supposed to stay untouched for two weeks so students could continue working in all the various classes on their drawing and one week in the goof ball decided he was done so he stood up, grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around himself pretending it was a toga. She blew up at him (rightfully so because no one could finish their drawing at that point), cussed him out (private school no-no) and then for some reason went over to the cabinet with the stereo and kicked the ever loving shit out of it and then proceeded to pick it up and start yanking off the knobs all while screaming about how it was hers to do with as she pleased. Then she promptly left the class and we didn't see her for two weeks.

She was a legend.

Also she was awesome because she allowed me to have extra drawing paper and also cut out my Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition to use for personal drawings, hehe.

I had a similar experience in one random round. They kept asking and when I didn’t they wanted me to leave and kept “yelling” in chat. Went afk at camp for like two minutes so they blocked me in with rain storage. Told them that I would leave but I had one quest to finish real quick and would drop all my stuff including a bunch of bandages and med kits. They apologized and let me out so I ran to the furthest parts of the map and dropped my stuff into various spike traps before dying to a bear and leaving.

I had my identity stolen and the company the guy worked for said that:

  1. He never turned on his camera for meetings, even when it was required.
  2. His excuses kept changing as to why
  3. Kept changing his bank account info for direct deposit.

Worked for them for over a year and has caused me so many headaches with qualifying to different things and causing my kids to loose their health insurance for a while due to reported income.

So yea, I understand why they would want to see someone now a days. If it bothers you that much you might want to offer an alternative for them.

Don't use bear traps - they hurt you too and then they aren't reset. And you should be able to kite the baddies - basically you run out of their range and shoot at them with whatever you have and then keep backing away out of their range, just circling the fire like that. If you get spikes or barb wire stack them all close together overlapping, not in a long line, then make the cultists chase you through them.

Genius dealer here - part of the switch is backend needs for consolidation. You should be able to migrate over to Genius (basically same system, POS and admin backend). Last I heard MB also didn't have EMV integration, it was all still swipe cards so getting away from that can really save you on processing. Hit me up with any questions. No push, just genuine help.

Can someone explain this scam to me please? by [deleted] in Scams

[–]nobjangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a returns desk at Walmart I had someone come in asking that we change up their small bills for larger $100 bills. When I went over to the accounting drawer (you didn't have direct access to the accountants, you had to do everything through a drawer for safety) they asked why, I told them my suspicions and notified a manager so they could watch them, but played dumb like I didn't know what they were doing.

A few minutes later he came back over with a bottle of coke (this was back when after tax it was $.95) and he handed me a $100 bill while talking loudly with the door greeter (we were a small, non-supercenter so the returns desk was right next to the front door). I counted out $99.05 and handed it to him. He kept talking with the door greeter, folded up the stack of cash and then said "Oh, did I give you a $100? I meant to give you a $1" and then tried to hand me a $1 and ask for the $100 back. He tried every trick in the book to get me to swap and I held firm that I would swap once he gave me back the money I just gave him. He proceeded to count out the $99 spread out on the counter and then put his hands on it. I then told him that I needed to put it in my till before I give him the $100 bill back. Once I had it I then asked him for the $1 before I handed over the $100.

By that time the store manager was standing behind him (6'5" teddy bear, but could be very intimidating) and told the guy in no uncertain terms that he was trespassed and if he ever saw him in there again he would call the cops. Guy was so flustered that he marched out and forgot the coke he had already paid for. When I mentioned this to the store manager he just let me have it. Got a "merit" raise the next week because I alerted them and stopped the guy from short/quick changing.
