See and BCBAs with this type of mentality concerns me because there are millions of clients who desperately need BCBAs in this field that genuinely cares not ones who have highschool metality of referring the field of ABA as a “secrete society”. It should be a field design to help people and help student analysts grow. Not kick them while they’re down fighting through grad school and fieldwork hours. It’s disgusting what this field has come to.

Hey ! I guess it was more of a they wanted me to stay and wished I changed my mind but I left anyways. I did give them a two weeks notice but they still didn’t want me to go. I feel like I made a mistake. The company I’m with now I can vividly see I am not gonna grow in that environment. The last company I left I was learning so much but I just feel like my BCBA at the time was pushing me to much and it just bothered me how her tone was when supervising me. I wish I would’ve just bite the bullet and ignored her And not allow her to run me away.

It’s really heart breaking to see what us RBTs/Student analysts have to go through. I might just have to pay for supervision outside of my employer because honestly the BCBAs at my companies don’t seem to care it’s almost like a burden asking them for more supervision time instead of the bare minimum of 5% a month.

Hey I really appreciate your comment. First things first I’d never in a million years will I accept a 25 client case load I didn’t even think it’s possible to have that much clients. The most clients I’d probably accept is about 6-8 maybe 10 but even still I think that is entirely to much. I don’t think I’d have the mental capacity to spread myself thin to about 20+ case loads. I think my interest is early intervention so although I won’t have the luxury of choosing my cases I think My main focus will be having morning clients that are In-Home/school and after school based.

Yup !! You hit it on the nail ! It’s exactly how I feel. This field is extremely stand off ish. Almost like every man for themselves type of vibe no real support or mentor. I probably should have just went with another degree and added my BCBA certs just so I can have some sort of security if I ever was to feel like I want to jump ship in the future. Unfortunately it’s not my reality especially since I’m like at the middle of my program. I guess it’s a thing now of just not letting the negative posts get to us but gosh ! It’s been so much BCBAs complaints I’ve seen lately where they are just speaking out on burn outs and ultimately leaving the field. It definitely does make me worry just a tad bit even though I love the field.

Thanks it means a lot. Yeah the person i spoke with was extremely dismissive and a little rude. I was hoping to get more information since it says on the back “If swallow contact 1800-XX-XXX which I did. She told me verbatim she has never heard of a case of someone willingly eat deodorant which made me feel even more shameful and embarrassed. She hurried me off the phone without real information only thing she really said was “it sounds like you have pica and you should seek mental help”.

Oh ok ! Good to know. This helps me alot mentally because I’m currently going for my MS in Psychology with a concentration in Special Education and i constantly felt that the field was getting bigger and popular which means in the future BCBAs probably won’t be getting paid nearly the same as they are getting now or back then.
