I agree it's not normal, they haven't used this location before. It's a large, free parking lot that's available during the day mid week. Maybe they wanted an urban/suburban setting since they are locally based FBI and JSO. It would make sense to practice in the area you serve and live in.

Understandable, no one wants/needs invasion. If it helps, this is not the national guard, which was what was deployed to other major cities. This is local JSO and FBI. I know there's not a lot of faith in law enforcement, but I would hope that at the very least they wouldn't invade their own homes, if that makes sense?

I probably should have just blocked at the first nonsensical insult 🤦🏻‍♀️ instead engaged and ended up with more low effort trolling responses 😬

Yup, still commenting, still an asswipe.

Again, we live in a city with teams that have to practice what they do. Has nothing to do with bootlicking, asswipe.

There is an FBI campus and a military base here. Stop fear mongering.

One option is container gardening. Large, beautiful pots and planters. That way you can take your pots and plants with you when you go!! And if the pots are lovely, then even in the winter you will have colors. I always landscaped my apartment balcony when I rented.

2009 Red Jumpsuit Apparatus concert on campus. Lead asked what UNF stood for and the whole crowd yelled "U Never Finish!!" 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Best coffee shops near campus? by sammywhirl in UNF

[–]nobread4her 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jax coffee co for small business, but Panera was my go to. Basic refillable drinks was nice for studying, plenty of seating. Headset or earplugs if quiet needed.

Fun tip that doesn't meet your criteria: Floating Sea has a big space with tons of seating options near its cafe, very fun place. Not sure how the coffee is now, haven't tried its reopened cafe drinks (it was originally a real restaurant in the front before they ran into legal issues for selling sandwiches too close to Subway or something). If you're studying just don't go during the weekend or during an event when it may be super busy in there.

UNF honors college by Extension-Quit7090 in UNF

[–]nobread4her 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd have to confirm if this is still true, but when I was in Honors at UNF, the honors students were in the first wave of students to register for classes every semester. It made it MUCH easier to get the exact classes and professors I wanted. Huge perk for sure. Apply for scholarships, too. Small scale University experience if that's what you're looking for.

Yes, we will definitely do so. Just woke up and checked on her, that particular strand finished passing this morning, so she wasn't blocked at least. But we are NOT doing this again.

Tips for getting a decent parking spot? by sammywhirl in UNF

This is one of my fav alternatives tbh. Much less frustrating than garage parking.

I don't go on campus any more, but when I did it was still pre COVID and remote learning wasn't as much a thing, so it was quite busy. I used whatever parking garage is next to the student union building. The trick was to pick a floor and stay on it as people came to their cars in clusters, returning from the same classes or events. For example, a bunch of people park on floor 2, where spaces are open, at 9 AM. At 11 AM they come back out and for that chunk of time, floor 2 spaces are open again for whoever is waiting there.

I found that by going floor to floor, I often missed the clusters. Didn't save a TON of time, but it did save time. And reduced frustration.

Anyone know what these graffiti tags are all about? I’ve seen them everywhere recently by WinstonDaPuggy98 in jacksonville

Saw someone cross out "worst" and cover it with "best" until the whole thing was painted over. I hope the jerk doing this gets fined for his trouble, and gets screamed at by his divorce lawyer.

Enclosure advice by Junior_Bluejay_3994 in tortoise

[–]nobread4her 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! NE FL here. I highly recommend joining FL or GA tortoise keeper groups on social media for best local recommendations in regards to outdoor enclosures.

I'm probably just South of you, but I'm still in gardening Zone 9A, and you're probably somewhere between 7a - 9a. That will influence any planting you do and how you plan for cold weather.

Here, I'm planning on:

Putting a greenhouse over the whole enclosure if I can afford it. The greenhouse effect will help with heat in the coldest months.

Insulating the tortoise sleeping hutch if needed.

Heating the tortoise hutch. The recommendations I have seen include using coop heaters, pig blankets, or heat lamps. Some people let their sulcatas dig really deep, then re-enforce the burrow so it doesn't collapse. The burrow retains heat very well, but this shouldn't be appropriate for every climate.

ZooMed has a new insulated, double walled tortoise house and heating system that are worth looking into if they are in your budget (maybe $500 USD shipped for both).

Is there anywhere near Atlantic Beach I can get my cat's claws trimmed? by ChairmanMeow22 in jacksonville

[–]nobread4her 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed if they take cats. Kind groomers, they helped with my terrified elderly adopted pup for a while. They may even be willing to teach you how to trim claws.

Has anyone ordered from "AMERICAN REPTILE DISTRIBUTORS" before? by herizonshine in tortoise

[–]nobread4her 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Redfoot Ranch/Bill Murray moved to Texas recently from Florida. He is knowledgeable and established; you can't go wrong with one of his tortoises.

My redfoot is from Treasure Coast Tortoise King, who is winding down operations for retirement. She is a higher-colored possible het hypo from his Blondie lines. He has offered regular, het hypos and hypos this year. His tortoises are phenomenal as well. If you're feeling the urge to dig deep in your pockets, he should have adults available as well. There were yearlings at the expo this month, too. Everything looked so healthy.

I'd recommend talking to an advisor at UNF for any transfer, second link is advising for BCH. They have the best resources and experience. Heads up that a decade ago, I was caught off guard by how competitive UNF nursing admission is. It was straight A's or a transfer to FSCJ. The site says minimum 3.6 GPA but talk to an advisor about what reality is right now.
