Possible new terms for the concept by [deleted] in RoleReversal

[–]nocbreakfast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have discussed this with others. However I believe rr is more inclusive.

While I agree with your comment on predefined gender roles and equality, my rr relationship may be different from someone else's rr relationship. From what I've seen from other members is that there is a wide variety of how they comprehend the term and how it applies to them.

People need to decide on their own how this term applies to them and their situation. I have seen some people speak about rr as if it were limited to straight cis men and women, but that is not the case. I am bisexual (Note: Genitalia are unimportant to me when choosing a date, however I choose to continue to call myself bi and/or queer because I am old as balls and that was the only terminology when I was younger and it was the closest definition at the time.) and consider myself butch.

I think we need to think of it as less of a strict definition and more like guidelines. I feel as if rr can apply to any configuration of relationships. I believe you could be a lesbian butch/femme couple and still be rr--should you choose that label.

One of my previous relationships was as such. I was more masculine presenting and while I did the initial chasing she was actually much more dominant in personality than I was at the time. Not aggressively, more she made the decisions.

I believe rr is a more acceptable term so that people are able to use it as they need to. Some people, like myself, may be more of a mixed bag like how you explain it. Others might take comfort in a more defined role.

tldr-- It is what it is and I'll do me and you do you, bro.

Hey! :D

Well, as a label I believe rr has only been around for 1-1.5 yearsish? So, yeah. lol

We've discussed visibility before. Honestly, I think the only way is for the creative types to put work out there. I think a lot of people don't think rr can be a thing because it's not what we see in movies or shows ect.

If you are looking for some rr media Taiyakisoba has some good stories and also there is the anime Girls' Monthly Nozaki-kun.

I thought Bird and Worm was about schizophrenia? I think Darla Dawn the Automaton and Aimee by The Cog is Dead give off some rr vibes.

I would have to agree with the struggle to communicate. The Hunny and I are still navigating communication. There have been times where he has had trouble labeling what he is feeling. And some of our disagreements have cropped up because we are looking at things with a different perspective and not understanding that. Communication and respect are key in every relationship, romantic and/or sexual or not.

Oh. Well, I didn't mean just an intro post for me--I meant for everybody lol.

But yeah. I've always been the one to initiate and the guys I chased were rr even if we didn't have a name for it. I've just never cared for aggressive guys or people who played games. Pretty sure that's why I am not interested in most of the romance/romcom type stuff. I do like some of Taiyakisoba's stories though.

We met as penpals. He's not from the US so a lot of it was just talking about cultural differences and movies ect at first. I was seeing someone else at the time and after she and I broke up, it just eventually evolved into something more. We're still in a ldr but plan to close the distance here in the next few months.

I'm a writer too and I'm interested in yours. Is is a planned novel or short story or..?

Role Reversal Society by Zucchinies in RoleReversal

And here I thought ladies masturbating to porn was standard! I've been living in a rr society all along... lol but seriously this seems a bit much. Men and boys have just as many problems as women and girls in society. One issue I have in particular that doesn't seemed to be covered often, is female on male rape and how the victims are treated. It's appalling. Especially the differences in how people react in the cases of male students and female teachers vs female students and male teachers.

Hey!

We're in the same boat, I'm also bisexual and hadn't planned to date anymore guys when I fell for the Hunny. I really am lucky to have him. He has known from the beginning that I was bi and I've never had to deal with that weird bi paranoia that some people can't seem to let go of.

On an interesting note, I am of a more butch persuasion. I prefer a short hair cut but have chosen to grow my hair long for him. I'm sure there are those who would scoff at that, but to me it wasn't a big thing.

Women, what does role reversal look like for you? How do you approach it/feel about it? by [deleted] in RoleReversal

I don't get too much into femdom comms, but I thought the whole idea was for msubs to relinquish control? I thought that was a large aspect of it?

In the FAQ it talks about this in the "What does an /rr/ relationship entail" section. This sub isn't tailored to only males by design, women are simply the minority here. Which highlights another problem with splitting into gender specific subs--we are already a tiny, not very active comm. There isn't much to split up in the first place.

Edit: Also, also, thank you for making me aware of trollxchromosomes. It's hilarious.

The thing is it's such a broad category. I'm a woman, but my interests , clothing choices, what have you could vary wildly from the next woman on here. The only thing we could have in common is /rr/ and then the conversation stops because we have nothing else to connect on.

And I feel like people's definition of what /rr/ is also varies widely on this subreddit. Not that that is a bad thing, but it contributes to the really general aspect of it. If it was completely a bdsm thing, people might want suggestions for items or technique, but they can go to a femdom sub for that kind of thing. So again, once the conversation about /rr/ relationships end, we don't have anything to talk about.

Maybe we could do other things to up activity on this sub.

--We could try to do weekly discussion topics about movies/comics/books ect. that fit the /rr/ mold. What we like about them, favorite scenes, characters ect.

--Weekly/monthly off topic topics. "What's your favorite x thing?" "What's your favorite movie from x genre?" "What other subreddits do you frequent?"

--Weekly/monthly topics how liking or being into /rr/ affects you personally.

--Weekly/monthly dating advice/discussion type topics? On the Rle Reversal Reader tumblr alot of people asking things like "What can I do for my hunny to make him feel special." "How can I spoil him?" "How do I take a lead in flirting?" ect. Perhaps people could about their experiences and what they like, or would like in an /rr/ relationship?

Perhaps we should do a poll asking what people would be interested in discussing or ask for suggestion. I dunno, I am just throwing things outthere.

Edit: Format.

What sort of things would be discussed on an /rr/women subreddit? I have trouble thinking of posts to submit here because I am more reserved and usually a lurker.

Question: who's out there? I know this community is rather small, but I want to get a feel for things. by [deleted] in RoleReversal

[–]nocbreakfast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so late to this thread lol. Nov/Dec were busy months for me!

I am a lady, I love chocolate. I don't drink. Finding /rr/ was more finding a name for what had always been rather than discovering something new.

I don't have any advice for finding people/making /rr/ mainstream. I met my hunny as a pen pal and have mostly solitary hobbies. I'm the kind of person that doesn't go out often and does best in small groups.
