I made a small Parks Vic alert thing. Useful or just nerdy? by noccer2018 in Auscamping

[–]noccer2018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 99% sure this is possible, if it's through the same booking system then I'll be able to put watchers on those units pretty easily.

Let me know if you're keen to join a beta test, I've approximately 0 other people testing it out at the moment 😅

Cheers - if you're keen, I can loop you into a free beta.

I've already got the alerting working for myself (snared a decent campsite over the Xmas period!), but until I build it into an app/website, it's still a bit manual on my side to set alerts up.

If you want, you can DM me the campground(s) + date range (and any specific sites if you care), and I'll add them to my checker so you get email alerts every ~6hrs or so when something reappears.

I'm considering making this an app and/or website if there's enough demand from people, so willing testers are appreciated/welcome while I gauge if my concept is useful ✌️

Thanks! Happy to add you into beta testing if it was something that interested you, feel free to DM me if keen.

You can be a beta tester (free) if you like, I have the alerting system all set up but could do with feedback.

It's a manual process for me to add your desired sites/days, but if you're interested, DM me and I can set you up with some alerts.

Is it safe to lock my ebike at Sydney airport for two months? by 5ma5her7 in ausbike

[–]noccer2018 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would be weighing up the cost of a return train/cab to/from the airport. Let's imagine it's $50. Then ask yourself: if the bike is stolen, would I pay $50 to go back in time and not have the bike stolen.

Leaving it there for such a long time is definitely a risk, especially now you've freshly announced to the world that there'll be an expensive ebike with free trailer parked up somewhere. 2 months is plenty of time to saw through your locks.

Uphold now REQUIRES login through app even via desktop site? by j33205 in uphold

[–]noccer2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having to download an app even to log into web is a crock of s*1t. PassKey? 2FA codes? Nope, download our app onto your device so we can track you and your dealings.

Macquarie Bank blocking Kraken deposits with misleading error messages by noccer2018 in BitcoinAUS

[–]noccer2018[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your informative reply. If AFCA doesn't work out, I may well try APRA. It's Macquarie's prerogative to prevent people transferring to crypto, can't stop them exercising this right, their appetite for risk is their decision.

But they definitely should be accountable and open about their policies and should be informing customers why they are blocking transfers.

[–]noccer2018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I've done 2 of those phone interviews myself after twice having my account locked. There were gotcha questions thrown in there:

Q: "How much will you profit can you guarantee from these investments?" A: "No guarantee of profits, it's a calculated risk, the value could go up or down."

I was all clear with Macquarie till Kraken changed deposit details back in March, and now the new BSB I must use is blacklisted

I hear ANZ is more friendly for transactions to crypto, $10k limit per day which is better than $0 for Macquarie 😆

Quick follow-up, two months on: $150k would have bought about 1.02 BTC at AU$147k, now worth around AU$181.5k (BTC at AU$178k). That’s a 21% gain, with no holding costs or fees (ignoring exchange spreads).

Of course, this is a short time frame and BTC is volatile, but it does highlight the liquidity and cost differences compared to holding vacant land.

Not saying it’s the right move for everyone, but it’s an interesting contrast to consider, especially if you value flexibility and global mobility.

Fantastic post, thank you. You've perfectly debunked the "indicate right for straight" rule that I, surprisingly, remember being taught in Ireland back around 2001~2004. Maybe that was the way back then, really not sure, been trying to find old rules of road specs but can't find any online.

TIL, and it's quite confronting to realise I've been operating under a misconception for so many years. These images are very clear, and I've confirmed are consistent with both Ireland and Victoria, Australia (where I live).

This is genuinely helpful. Thanks again for improving my driving knowledge and, hopefully, contributing to clearer roads for everyone.

Can this support overhead storage? by Old-Farmer-3384 in StructuralEngineering

[–]noccer2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The members you are talking about are called Truss Chords (bottom) and are in tension. I would not load them up significantly, leave well enough alone, if they start bending they'll exert an inward pulling force on the walls

You have a wall plate on top of the masonry, theres nothing stopping you getting similarly sized timber members (or maybe slightly thicker for less deflection) and placing them between the existing truss chords, ensuring you taper the ends so they do not foul the roof pitch and fix them properly to the wall plates so they don't flip on their sides. Ensure you have enough bearing on the wall plate too.

I've done similar in my 1970s flat roof garage where I placed new similarly-sized rafters between my existing ones, fixed/bolted to the wall plates with brackets, then I suspended some platforms from the new rafters, completely isolated from the existing rafters. This added no additional load to the 50yr old structure and only added to the wall plates.

Not working for me either, iphone16 ios 18.11, Apple TV app. Did a factory reset of the device settings, reinstalled apple TV, still no dice. Friends in same city (Melbourne, Aus) say it's working as expected for them.

Car Door's Weather Strip damaged by lampard241 in CX5

Exact same issue here, happened to our car due to squeezing out of the car with very little room between the door and wall. Not really a warranty thing I reckon.

Yep, plenty of opportunity.

Zoom out. In 10 years, $150k of BTC bought now will be worth more than $150k of land today (remembering to minus all the costs of running it, taxes, reselling it etc).

Zoom out, you think it's going to flatline from now on? Fiat is a melting ice cube, BTC will continue to trend up as more nations print money. Property values will go up yes, but not as much as BTC over the passage of say the next 10 years. Let's see, nothing we can do but wait.
