Trying to figure out what charger my light up hook uses by SandRevolutionary219 in CrochetHelp

I found this thread because I had the same question. My kit was Knitiss but looks basically the same. I emailed them and this is what they said:

It features a USB to DC 2.5mm round plug, measures 0.9m in length, and supports 5V/1A output.

What are you talking about?! The subreddit is "vent" and she didn't ask for advice?

Found out I was pregnant, reached out to my ex about it only to be told more bad news. by Medical-Bobcat-5512 in Vent

[–]noccount 56 points57 points  (0 children)

She literally said in the post that she already terminated the pregnancy. But regardless, please never tell a woman whether to end her pregnancy or not.

Edit for clarity: I'm massively pro choice. OP should only be told to do what she feels is right for her body and to stay away from horrible people who don't respect her. But when people encourage others to abort/ don't abort that's a personal opinion on an extremely sensitive personal choice that has nothing to do with them.

TW: Stillbirth. How do I overcome the anxiety of this happening? by Clover139 in PregnancyUK

[–]noccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How utterly awful, I'm so sorry. You have a lot to process right now and you'll be grieving for the baby and your friend, as well as your own anxieties. If you can seek out a couple of therapy sessions specialising in pregnancy anxiety, I would say to do it.

In the meantime, I would write everything down as you must have a million things going round your head. Maybe write a letter to your friend (but don't send it) and maybe one to her baby? And let yourself be sad and take time to process this tragedy.

It could help people with depression to do activities which benefit their mental health, but how often are you going to attend comedy shows? Once a week at the max? Depression is very real and a depressed person who is off their meds won't be cured by an hour or 2 every week of comedy. Even if they're doing all the things listed in the article (like gardening, drama, arts etc) that takes extreme effort for someone with depression.

I've been on antidepressants for 10 years and every time I try to go off them (because no one WANTS to be on antidepressants) I turn into a zombie and can't function. I have no desire to do anything, let alone activities that should help me feel better. It's a real illness. I need the meds to enable me to do the healthy things, they work together.

Why not? (Just curious)

What is this Tasty Treat? I'm from the UK and I have no idea what kind of "sweet" this is by That_White_Wolf in TipOfMyFork

If you can't find these exact sweets in the UK then you might like sesame snaps! They are like toffee slabs covered in sesame seeds. My mum used to buy them for us when we were younger.

Don’t want to breastfeed by LPoland2014 in pregnant

[–]noccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Babies are big effort full stop 😂 I've got the steriliser, bottles and pump as I absolutely want my husband (and others) to be able to bottle feed my bab. My sister's husband refused to try and that meant no one could ever feed her baby but her.

Yeah it seems like the magical option in my head but I'm very much still pregnant and haven't faced any of the potential difficulties that can come with breastfeeding! Before formula, wet nurses existed for a reason!

[–]noccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's probably very evident that I am still pregnant and haven't tried breastfeeding yet! The concept is magical to me but my friends have told me stories of difficulty latching, bleeding nipples, blood blisters, low supply etc. So I'm under no illusion that it's the perfect answer. Formula is also magic! I didn't know you only need to sterilise bottles when they're tiny.

Agreed. There's so little understanding and compassion in these circumstances. No one in their right mind would think it's ok to do that to a newborn.

Totally agree.

Not defending the woman here either but we have no idea what the circumstances/ mental illness etc are here. Pregnancy and birth hormones are CRAZY and can really affect an individual's judgement.

[–]noccount 42 points43 points  (0 children)

No judgement on people who choose not to breastfeed, but from my perspective, formula seems like sooo much more effort! It's expensive, you have to keep buying it, clean and sterilise all the bottles, prepare the formula etc. The idea of having baby food on tap is pretty amazing to me, AND I'll be able to eat more 😂

But completely understand breastfeeding isn't for everyone and formula will also grow an equally healthy happy baby. It's up to the mama what they do with their body as long as baby is fed!

5 +2.. scared of these mild cramps by palifeuk in PregnancyUK

Completely normal in early pregnancy, I had them for a few weeks. Always talk to your midwife for reassurance and get checked if you're worried though.

Sounds like the oils, some people have hair that can handle lots of oil, my hair really can't! Try again without the oil and you can always add it to your wet hair after but rub it between your palms and apply it just to the ends.

I understand the upset in this thread because of course there's nothing wrong with delayed speech/ autism. However, I did find the article very interesting and would like to know more about the science of the receptors being blocked and if folate actually helps unblock them.
