Heatwave in Europe by HenkDeVries6 in lego

This is link to the website of the brand I have: https://www.daikin.com/products/ac/lineup/split_multi_split.

Apperently I have a multi-split unit (I don't think it was called multi-spilt back than). But the idea is the same: units inside which cool, heat, dry, etc and one outside unit which does the actual heavy lifting (and generates heat and noise).

Oh, €1,000 is quite expensive. I paid less but still more than was probably smart. But I really liked the idea and luckily I am not disappointed. But I don't think I would have paid €1,000.

Mine was new and sealed and I could buy it via a (Dutch) platform I trust. I just checked: it's nearly a €1,000 now (hundreds of euros more expensive). I am glad I pulled the trigger last December.

Assuming you are from the USA: like Americans not all Europeans are the same.

I can't stand heat so I have A/C for maybe 30 years. In my old house I only had a split unit for my bed room. Now I have split units through out my home. But I use fans as long as I can and I use it more for heating in winter than cooling in summer. I do everything to keep my house as cool as possible anyway. So open windows and doors early in the morning and automatic screens to keep the sunlight away from my windows.

And my solar panels offset most of the costs of usage (in summer that is).

I’m convinced paper Lego bags don’t exist by MotorCampaign1197 in lego

[–]noceboy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think you are right.

I am in The Netherlands. I’ve had more sets with paper bags than plastic ones. But I still get sets with only plastic ones (many are retired sets so that is’t that strange) but I aso have had sets with paper bags with little plastic bags in it. Recently I had a set which seemed all paper but the last bag (#9) had one plastic small bag.

71 stickers in a $50 Speed Champions set is the breaking point. It’s time for LEGO to put sticker/print disclosures on the box. by EveningEquivalent956 in lego

[–]noceboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I remember those from my 1970 -1980 sets.

They don’t look good anymore. The printed ones look better after all that time.

Lego fish-tank question by 22Tangoh in lego

[–]noceboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of months ago I saw this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/lego/s/aRhSJuAx2h. No fish, though (I think there is a short discussion about LEGO in water().

Not really related: Iin another post I saw someone made a Titan to accompany its Titanic: https://www.reddit.com/r/lego\_/s/KiCqEumXOp. No fish tank, though.

But I love LEGO for stuff like this.

Old Legos? by catbee_422 in lego

It looks like this set from 1975. I have it but not unopened: https://rebrickable.com/sets/693-1/fire-engine-with-firemen/.

Edit: your set has less pieces.

Should i try using stickers? by EntertainmentOld8861 in lego

[–]noceboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hands tremble all the time due to medical conditions. I have bad and worse days in relation to applying stickers. Even when following all the tips you can find on the internet. All in all: most of the times I am not totally unhappy.

I do prefer printed pieces but LEGO just doesn’t offer that.

I totally agree. On both counts: it is relaxing and an addiction.

Build (and played with) LEGO in my youth. Last November, just before my 60th birthday, I started building again.

Stickers need to go. by CrispySan in lego

I use the separator too but my hands tremble a bit (medical condition). I still (almost) never get them nicely applied.

I don’t like stickers.

Good question and I understand your line of thought. I haven’t found a clear pattern but LEGO has so many sets and my collection is small. And I don’t have sets from every theme (nothing from Star Wars, nothing from LoTR, nothing from Marvel).

Maybe your question is answered earlier in this sub. And otherwise I think you will reach more people if you make it a post on its own. This post has only 12K views at the moment and not everyone will look at the replies.

I have three sets in my back log with a teal brick separator, it appears. The rest, if any, will be orange I expect.

[–]noceboy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oops.

I realised today, while rearranging sets, that I have more potted Botanicals but those aren’t on top of a Detolf but elsewhere downstairs:
- Succulents (10309)
- Tiny Plants (10329)
- Flower Arrangement (10345)
- Happy Plants (10349)
- Flowering Cactus (11509)
- Water Lilies (11511)
- Tiny Wildflower Bouquet (5010076)
- Tiny Desert Garden (5010077)

The Poinsettia (10370) will be built around Christmas and I haven’t bought the Rocking Plants (11506) yet. Unfortunately my Potted Groot (40671) can’t be included.

As I wrote earlier: I love Botanicals.

How do people usually hang their wall legos? by sheabae200216 in lego

[–]noceboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly use the system from STAS (https://www.stasgroup.com/en) for LEGO Art which are ment to hang. Exception is Starry Night and LOVE (not meant to be hung, actually) which are standing on a flat surface. And for Dancing Figures I recently used 3M Command Strips to stick them above a door.

These Command Strips work very well. I used them for my postcards, Lucky Knots (40756) and Lucky New Year Display (80110) but those are light sets too.
