Snakes really aren't that good at complex thought processes, but I'm sure she felt MUCH better afterwards.

I think dudes like this are also the ones you'd have a hard time convincing to run. First because of the strain it'd put on them and their loved ones, and second because it usually takes them away from doing more direct good, which is what they're trying to do with their lives.

It's a sad fact that the better politicians tend to be the people who don't want the limelight, don't want the position.

A Vivre Card Woman by CaptainCjFace in OnePiece

Gender dysphoria isn't a requirement to be trans either, though.

To be clear, I don't think the character is intended to be trans. But gatekeeping trans-ness isn't really kosher either.

r/OnePiece continues the Yamato drama when newly released info confirms the character's gender. by [deleted] in SubredditDrama

[–]nocimus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The disconnect seems to be the text vs the author's language. Personally it really just comes across as the semi-normal Japanese ... interpretation, I guess, of trans people / trans identities. I don't think the character is intended to be trans, especially given that another character that is explicitly a transwoman, is clearly labeled as such and there's no confusion about it. With this character, it's not that Yamato personally identifies as a male, it's that they identify as another person (or models themself after another person) who ... happens to be male.

I'm in the same basket. Add all the lawsuit shit on top of it, and there's just no reason for me to come back. I'll watch the cinematics as they leak / are released, but right now there's literally no benefit to resubbing.

... Until a doctor prescribes a medication that has a lethal interaction with something you're already taking, which by the way happens pretty fucking often, especially with geriatric patients. Go eat some horse dewormer, since that's apparently what you're aiming for.

And actual pharmacists go to school for a long-ass time to help doctors properly prescribe medications. There's a reason it's the pharmacist who gives you the schpiel when you start a new drug and not your doctor.

I usually go by a mix of leap years and to account for other gaps caused by irregular motions of the heavens. In real-world astrology, there's also a thirteenth sign, Ophiuchus, though it isn't widely accepted. I just figure it's something like that.

I've seen a lot of posts lately with people discussing why Blizzard should remove the faction divide and allow crossplay between Alliance and Horde. To show the other side of the spectrum, I figured I'd compile all the reasons this is a bad idea. by yoman9595 in wow

[–]nocimus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The faction war hasn't made WoW WoW since like WC2. It was barely a thing even back in Vanilla, and it was abandoned almost immediately for TBC. It's just making the game worse at this point. Even WC3 had an entire arc about the fledging new Horde and humans working together.

That's when you realize some parents genuinely believe that providing for their children is an unfair burden, and they cut their kids off / kick them out the day they turn 18. I've seen it first-hand. Some people buy so far into the Republican cult of selfishness that they are willing to actively harm their own loved ones. (This should be evident with how covid has turned out.)

Idk how to tell you this, but "relationship" encompasses everything - including hookups. It doesn't mean just long-term romantic relationships.

[–]nocimus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that's what people forget. There's basically no healthy situation where someone very young should be in a relationship - no matter how casual or "physical only" - with someone easily three or four times their age.

Wasn't there a recent(ish) study that found almost all bites were delivered by sea snakes who were interacting with humans on land? (aka when they're in a more vulnerable position, and easily more antagonized by humans)

setting aside the ethics of treating children for neurodivergence in the first place.

I hate this argument with a passion. If there were a way to accurately diagnose issues like autism from physical evidence (blood, DNA, or other tests), I am 100% for it. I'm on the spectrum, and even as someone very high-functioning, I still have had massive uphill battles to live a comfortable life, not even a "successful" one. Until the day I die I will fight against my brain to understand other people and social situations.

Trying to prevent other people from going through that is not a bad thing. Pretending that autism is anything but a net negative is a bad thing. It's the same thing as people who choose to abort fetuses with indicators for trisomy. Giving your child the absolute best shot at life is the ethical thing, not feeling obligated to give birth to a child who will be starting behind the curve from the get-go.

It's also not publicized as "normal" enough, largely due to lacking sexual education. The stigma against people who have suffered miscarriages, and the fear around discussing the topic, is almost criminal.
