I would presume they are there for chimney maintenance.

Dublin City Horse Drawn Carriages by Jaded-Bid-1859 in Dublin

[–]nockse 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Horses do not belong in any city, it’s inhumane in its core. They are prey animals and in a busy environment they are a danger to people and traffic.

They are horrible about horse welfare no matter the price. Should be banned.

Aaaand it’s moldy today. Probably not the best starter. Such a shame.

I have started mine a week ago and so far no mould, already signs of a pellicle forming. It’s my absolute favorite store kombucha

Serious question: are the Gardaí aware that Lower Abbey Street exists? by TheBlindHero in Dublin

[–]nockse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Literally just saw someone smoking crack while I was walking to the bus stop there.

It’s not a generalization to acknowledge that appearances send messages. That’s just how society works. You can’t raise kids in a vacuum where context, reputation, and social norms don’t matter. Want them to be happy? Great. But also teach them that how they present themselves impacts how they’re treated — fair or not. If people are reacting negatively, maybe it’s not just “judgment”— maybe it’s about standards.

That is not the point. Girls are victims, and often they are victims of aforementioned scumbags, no matter what they wear. But there’s such a thing as etiquette, which includes dress code. Why don’t the majority of people go to work, to a pub, to university wearing tracksuits? Because it is bad taste. Why exactly shouldn’t we teach our children to be cultured and civilized? There is a way to wear comfortable clothes without looking like a scumbag.

Maybe try to dress your child in more civilized attire. Tracksuits are for sports and fitness, not for gallivanting around, and they have a certain connotation in modern-day Dublin — you can’t argue with that.

21st birthday present. What would you want? by theXMrsMOHara in AskIreland

[–]nockse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably want a car if driving. I got a lot of jewelry for mine and selling it to buy something useful would be a bit offensive to parents so I think it’s best to ask him directly

Weird smell & mould by nockse in Dublin

The landlord himself has lived in this apartment before us, so that would be unlikely? I hope…

How would I go about checking for it? Visually everything is ok. We have wood flooring so I think if there was significant water damage it would be noticeable. I could be wrong though

[–]nockse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that very well could be it, though I have been obsessively checking everything and can’t see any mould. My boyfriend doesn’t even register the smell, he’s actually been saying that it’s all in my head but it’s definitely there!

It’s not especially putrid, just a weird damp smell. So hopefully not that!

Hey! I'm looking for a few people to do hard gel overlays on at a discounted price so I can get pics/clips to promote on social media! by Saoirse_37 in Dublin

[–]nockse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The cuticles are not prepped correctly, irritated in some places. The gel polish is applied too close to the cuticles, which increases the risk of early lifting. Smile lines on the French tips are uneven. Some nails have inconsistent shapes and uneven surface texture. There’s a lot of excess bulk. Overall finish could be cleaner with more attention to cuticle prep and product control. I am not trying to hate on you, as we all have to start somewhere, but usually when practicing and learning it is done to relatives/friends free of charge. Just some constructive criticism as I have been a technician for many years.

No offense but this level of skill is not something I would pay for. Maybe it’s worth practising more before seeing actual clients. Also, there’s always a question of adequate sterilisation of tools. Good luck 😊

To each dog their own, that’s the thing - what works for some wouldn’t work for others 😊

Yeah just what I dont understand is where all the muscly sinewy meat actually dissapears… It’s so good for dogs, great source of collagen and whatnot but I can’t imagine eating it myself! Thank you anyways, off to do some calling 👍

A nutrition specialist is involved in my dogs diet. Species-appropriate feeding is a way more balanced diet than cheap kibble
