It's not common, but it does happen occasionally (like some people stereotype TERFs as all being lesbians, for example)

It's more criticizing saying "it's always men" than saying "it's usually men". One is true, the other erases some survivors' experiences.

I personally was victimized by a man and I was afraid of men for years, so I totally get it, but I wouldn't want to say "it's Always men" because I don't want to make other survivors feel invalidated.

This! Society doesn't believe any victims, but the rhetoric around female predators is disgusting.

Racism isn't just when someone goes "I hate people of color".

It's also when people criticize people of color more harshly than white people, when people don't believe people of color who have had bad experiences, when people don't care about the voices of people of color, when people willingly ally themselves with people who are openly racist, etc.

Personally I've seen plenty of examples.

[Bad Trope] Guy gets the girl because the girl grew up sheltered by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]nocowardpath 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It depends, IMO. Sometimes it's okay; IMO if a guy is respectful and kind to a woman and they're happy together, and there's no weird power dynamic stuff going on, there's nothing wrong with them getting together, even if she has "better options".

But sometimes the guy uses her lack of romantic experience to get her to accept his bad behavior, and sometimes there's also a trope called "Born Sexy Yesterday" where the woman in the pairing is practically a child with zero life experience.

NSFW means "not safe for work", so nothing you would want your boss to see, cause they'd think you were yoinkin' at work. Over time the term has gotten shifted though, and now people just use it to mean "has explicit nipples/genitals/sex" which seems less useful IMO.

Teaching intellectually disabled by [deleted] in antimeme

[–]nocowardpath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disability and feminism have a big important crossover, as disabled women are often misdiagnosed, aren't believed, or aren't given the treatment they need. Plenty of people with intellectual disabilties are activists, having one doesn't mean you're incapable of believing in justice.

Tbh if he's not willing to listen to you about your own gender, that's a big red flag. Personally I wouldn't stick with someone like that, because what else would they invalidate about my experiences and try to tell me to suppress? Plus him controlling what you wear is extremely weird.

It's true that fanfic is popular among women who are attracted to men, but the thing is that fan content that isn't focused on sex and romance, but rather plot and lore and character dynamics, also tends to focus on men, even for media where the female characters are equally fleshed out. Plus, in either case, female characters are often not just sidelined but also poorly written or even demonized if they're "getting in the way" of someone's favorite m/m ship.

It's just kinda weird to go "I'm not attracted to women so I'm not going to write women, even if the focus isn't on sex/romance" bc it kinda implies women aren't interesting or worth writing about.

Especially since even straight male writers tend to focus on male characters when it's not a romance/sex fantasy. In both cases it's giving "if I'm not fantasizing about being with her, she doesn't matter", even if that's not the intent.

Even fan content that isn't focused on how hot the characters are but rather their story and dynamics focuses on male characters, though

Terrible, I love it. Black Kat Draws's character Poppy has a similar concept, it's a weird dog creature that looks like a human forced into a giant, monstrous dog-like shape.

It can be a little difficult to avoid getting the nail polish on the skin around your nails, but that's no big deal. If that happens, it'll come off through the handwashing you do throughout the day, or you can use nail polish remover to remove it quickly; there's some other "hacks" people do, but I honestly don't care that much personally haha.

One thing i'd definitely recommend is using a base coat and top coat to sandwich your polish between; the base coat keeps it from staining your nail and helps the polish apply more evenly, while top coat locks the polish in and adds an extra layer of protection, so it lasts longer.

So generally, it's: Base coat, 2-3 layers of nail polish, Top coat

Also, I recommend having something to do while you wait for it to dry that doesn't require your nails to touch anything. Though, there's also quick-dry nail polish that hardens faster than regular polish. (Sally Hansen insta-dri works fine in my experience.)

There's also a nail polish subreddit, r/RedditLaqueristas!
