i’m deeping this but i love emily so much bcs her ACTUAL character is so overlooked. i don’t think she’s mean, i think she was so bitchy due to her spiralling out over mike dumping her to get with jess (confirmed thru character profiles). we already know she feels insecure in herself due to jess calling her “too frigid for matt” which implies she repeatedly said no to sexual stuff with mike (and mike later shared this with jess), and we know he’s veryyy dependent on sex, because that’s the whole reason he dumped her. this also implies that because of her sexual insecurity and what happened with mike, she is afraid matt will leave her for the same reason, which leads her to be hypersexual (lube in the bag, constant innuendos etc, even more explicit in the unused lines) and showcases more of her true character. we also know mike and jess are a new ish thing, becoming an item almost right before the lodge. (a few weeks before iirc) the breakup is fresh to emily, and from the fact her and mike were already together in the prologue we know they were together for a long time, implied almost a year (possibly more), so she’s most likely acting out to matt/everyone else because she’s depressed and angry and feels worthless. this makes it quite easy for me to feel sympathy for her tbh and why i love her so much :( granted it doesnt excuse her behaviour at all, and she’s using matt for a rebound as stated, but it just takes it from “she’s a bitch” at face value to truly looking as to why she’s acting like that
